I have wanted one since I was a child and last year -- at 62 -- finally became the well owned person of a JR. My husband did NOT want her. She was three years old, had developed Addison's disease from trauma and was abandoned. I got her through a Jack Russell rescure here in upstate NY. She requires an injection of long acting steriod every 27 days -- and not one day later -- to survive. Has no adrenal function and I keep rescue prednisone one hand. that being said she is entirely normal -- for a JR -- in her behavior. Husband is now well managed by Sally. the only reason she doesn't sleep in our bed is because my husband closes the door -- he likes to be able to breathe (unreasonable man!), so she sleeps on the couch curled around the cat. And yes, if we don't keep the chairs pushed in tightly to the table she's right up there. We have a 155# GKW (God Knows What) long haired dog whose teeth and mouth she grooms at every opportunity -- he growls with his lips curled back as she reaches up into his mouth to be sure his molars are clean. She thinks our Fjord should be herded around. He doesn't. So far no squashed Russell. She is FIERCE, and absolutely fierce in her loving. I take her frequently to work with me during good weather and she makes rounds in the Nursing Home. The residents love her. I sometimes take my love birds on my shoulder when I round and they are quite popular. Trying to figure out how to transport my miniature horse (no truck or trailer :~( ) to the nursing home with her little cart.

This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >>>Candy Sloma, counting her blessings in cold and snowy upstate NY<<< I loved this post about counting our blessings. I have more than most people to count, that's for sure. I am mostly a lurker, I enjoy reading what everyone says, but haven't felt like I had much to add. Now if we got a big discussion going on fjord color genetics that might be another story. Horse color genetics is my specialty. I am 40 (Tami Pugh) and my husband Ken is 43, we have 9 kids and one on the way. Our cup over flows with blessings (which sometimes makes a mess!) We have lots of fun with our horses and our kids. It helps them learn how to work and how to have fun. We will have 5 kids in 4-H this year. We only have one Fjord, but I am trying my best to remedy that. It would help if I could sell one or two of the other horses. Anybody know someone who would love to have a palomino half Arabian? I have two for sale. We also have reg. Arabs, ponies, and minis, two dogs, and lots of cats. I am especially thankful for the Fjords because my husband has always supported my horses, and participated in horse activities to support me, but it was always my thing. Until we found Fjords! Now the Fjord is his thing. He especially loves driving. He just had a driving lesson with Vic Viceroy and they hitched up his Fjord for the first time. He was just thrilled, and happy for days after that. Our unhorsey occupations, Ken runs his own construction business, and I teach childbirth classes. I have AOL 6.0 and I don't understand what I'm supposed to do to fix it, Sorry Steve. Counting my blessings, Tami Pugh

LOLOLOL, probably too short to reach heheh BTW, I DO own a Fjord... I love her to death, but she is out on lease right now and in foal. I had wanted a Fjord for years, and despite hubby's objections I bought her 4 years ago. :) She is nice to ride, a little spunky when it comes to driving... but a wonderful mother. Cannot wait for her to foal this summer. Someday I plan to have more of these beautiful horses.
