I have been lurking ever since my husband put me on the List a couple of
months ago . He hands me the mail every day and I am finding so much
information and how nice it is to know I am not alone in FAT, FITTING
MUTTON WITHERS and countless other things. I have not responded before
now because I have been stretched to the max recently.

My husband, Don and I are retired and have a mostly retired Thoroughbred
mare, and since January, two Fjords. After sixty years of horses,
recent bad experiences gave me a very open mind and led me to my
serendipidous introduction to Fjords which have turned out to be one of
the great delights of my life. We have Felicity's Sean, a yearling
gelding, full brother to Felicity's Ragnar, bred by Dick and Susan
Giargiari of Felicity Farm in Peterborough, New Hampshire. I have just
begun driving him slowly and carefully. He is absolutely the greatest
and is adored by everyone, horse person or not. Of course that wasn't
going to satisfy my need for a more experienced horse, so two months ago
I became the proud owner of Carla, a Dutch-bred mare whom I bought from
Carol and Arthur Rivoire at Beaver Dam Farm. She is like the Pied
Piper of Hamlin, with a following of kids, scared adults, non-horse
people, experienced horse people; you name it, everyone feels
comfortable around Carla and EVERYONE loves my new Fjords. What a
difference they have made to me. I thought I would have to give up
riding and driving because of by health, but NO WAY! Not with these
wonderful new friends of mine!

Dave McWethy, you wrote about Lyme Disease. I myself got it this June
out here in the woods near Peterborough, NH. It is definitely here and
we are seeing more and more of it in this area. Why on earth do they
have a vaccine for dogs, but not for people or horses? My was caught in
time, I took a course of Doxycycline, and have been fine. The antenna
or whatever of the tick seems to have been left in the bite area, so it
is being taken out surgically this week. Be careful, everybody.

Best wishes to List members, and special thanks to Brian. You are
greatly appreciated!

Anne Sullivan and her ever tolerant and handy horsehusband,
Don.

He was born in Calif.. a Mr. Morris has owned him for the last 4 years.
We will use him next spring on 2 of our mares. He will go thru the same
training the other ones are in now .

Tillie, I would sure be interested in looking at grey babies if and when you
get some on the ground. I know that is a long ways away... Congrats on your
herd of Fjords.
