different subject DVMs please correct me if I'm wrong. It's the endophytes in certain strains of fescue that may cause mares to abort. It only seems to be a problem when fescue hay has been cut too late. I don't know of any problems in the pasture. Talk to your local extension agent. There are endophyte free strains of fescue available.
