This is in reply to Brian Jacob’s request for
information on other stallions, it was just what I
needed to put in my ‘two cents’ worth.

I’m Ellen Page (daughter of Marvin and Alfhild Raaum)
of Foothill Fjords in Placerville California. Our
stallion ‘Sivert’ was born here out of Bonita who was
imported from Holland after she was bred there to
Yerxes. My folks imported three mares in 1986 all
from Holland and all pregnant. Sivert was later bred
to the other two mares, Zora (a ‘stermerrie’) and to
Deborah to start our breeding program.

He had six offspring here with Zora, and four with
Deborah. They have been sold all over the country.
Several were at the horse show at Skandifest in
Turlock. Andrea, his first out of Zora, took a blue
in the halter class, and Signe, his first out of
Deborah, won many ribbons in riding and even more in
driving. He was also bred to Karen McCarthy’s mare
Joruhn and produced Tisa who was one of the overall
winners at Skandifest in Turlock, CA this year.

Although a brown dun, he is darker in color and passes
on great markings to his offspring. We are planning
to sell him next year after he breeds Zora and Deborah
one more time. We have sold Deborah to Collette
Swenson, and he’s related to everyone here but Zora.
We want to spend our time trail riding instead of
training. Anyone interested, let me know, he would
bring an entirely different bloodline to your area.

I use an Aussie saddle with horn as well. I use a crupper and breast-collar
as my Fjord has a flat back (dont most of them??? ) This really helps the
saddle "sit" and stay where it is supposed to.
