Hear! Hear! I second that. What Heather and Henry have is priceless
and worth aspiring toward with my own.

gotcha on tape

2010-03-10 Thread Pedfjords
This message is from: pedfjo...@aol.com

Yes, the FUGLY site is off for now. Not the first time, wont
be the last. I believe that when she exposed the 3-Strikes Ranch for starving
their huge herd of BLM mustangs, it was also suspended when the HOST of the
site received threats.
( BTW, Jason Meduna was just convicted and sentenced for like over 400
counts of animal abuse, jail time baby, whaaa hooo ! ) It was also shut down
once, when a thread posted about what turned out to be a minor child,
forced Yuku to suspend the forum. It is what it is. Never easy to be a whistle
blower, and esp. with the flaming posts on the FUGLY site from her readers
when she exposes something.

I doubt that the Fugly site is being shut down over the TAPE. It has over
16,000 hits all over the world now, and its being discussed on FISH, COTH,
BAEN, ect. ect. ect.

For the record, I am not against NH ( Natural Horsemanship ) In fact, when
I sent off my 2 geldings for saddle training last year, they went to a gal
in CO. who practices it. ( Naturalhorse, Tori Seavy ) I love what she did
with them and how they came back to me.

When this topic was brought up here ( playing the Yo Yo game ) with the
lunging thread, I had just seen the video. It upset me alot. Not because of
what Linda Parelli did to that horse, but because what ANYONE did to that
horse. The fact that the Peralli following commands a strong base of
supporters,
or that they get a ton of money for teaching newbies these methods is
frightening. The tape was not shot by some animal activist. It was not secret.
They filmed it and put it on a DVD thats for sale.from what I understand,
for begineers.

In all fairness, I assumed that not only Heather, but all of the Parelli
followers here had seen it and knew what I was talking about. I did not bring
it up, but when this exact game was mentioned and discribed, it was a good
place for me to ask about the method, not using the name so that I could get
an understanding here.

Also, for the record, I have ( now ) watched Heathers videos working with
her Fjord. What Heather demonstrates is a wonderful relationship with her
Fjord. She also demonstrates HOW these games are supposed to work, with every
step followed and good results happening. If the Parelli methods she uses
were shown on the tape of Linda Parelli, there would be no huge uproar. They
were not. Far from it.

She ( Linda Parelli ) beat that horse about the head, using a heavy short
lead rope with a big snap under his chin. She also used her hands. For
almost 5 min. He did not understand. By the end of the tape shown, he was
licking
and chewing and looking for relief. It did not come. He got shanked for
moving. It was sort of " lets make a horse head shy in the shortest amount of
time possible ".

Whatever point she was trying to make with him was lost in the translation.
I fault the owner as much as anyone, because if someone did that to one of
mine, we would be having a discussion behind the dumpsters. Using the same
method I might mention.

I am hearing that the horse had been a spoiled bottle baby. So what ? It
was clear that humans had taught him to crowd them and stay up in their face.

I also heard that the horse had vision in one eye only. Great. I have had (
and competed and used in therapy programs ) , one eyed horses. Even more
sickening that she was punishing him for swinging his head around to look ,
since he HAD to, with vision only on one side.

I vote that Heather give Linda Parelli some lessons on their own methods. I
find it hard to imagine that she would lose her patience
( which is IMHO just what happend ) and beat hers or anyones horse in the
face like that.
Heather is a GOOD example of the Parelli NH methods. Agree with them or
not.

Linda Parelli is not.

* Amy, if you write me I will send you the link. Its also featured on just
about every major horse site or forum out there by now. Well.maybe
except the Parelli site.
