Hi Cindy:

I sent you an email earlier, and did not hear back from you, but am
going to try one more time. Every time I see your description of the
horse you want, Pjoska (whom we call Katie) comes to mind. Lori
Albrough said she also thought you might make a great pair, and she
knows the horse very well, having done much of her training. Katie is
a gray mare, well trained in dressage and trail riding. She won her
two training level classes at her first show this year - I'm pretty
sure it was her first show ever. She has three lovely gaits, and a
comfortable soft canter. We have started some Natural Horsemanship
with her, and she really gets it, even though I am green at it. She
has had babies but much prefers being a person horse. She is a
sweetheart, and loves as much attention as you want to give her, but
can stand some time off if you aren't able to get to her every day.
She is definitely tall enough - around 14 hands - I am 54 years old,
5'7, 150 pounds, and she carries me easily. She is 16. I am asking
$8500.00, but told Lori I would go down to $7500.00 to get her a good
home. I think Lori still has some pictures of her on her website, and
perhaps a Utube video or two if you google Pjoska ford horse.

I promise not to bother you again about her, but I just couldn't help
it when I once again read your description of your dream horse.

Have fun at the - I am jealous, and hope to make it next year.
Sincerely,
Jill A. Kosek

 Hi.

I'm looking for a Fjord, and I'm going to be at the Fjord Friends

I'm looking for a horse who is safe for an intermediate, older
 rider, not
spooky, loves humans, and will canter under saddle. I really want a
sweetheart horse who wants to be doted on. I plan to do a little
 trail
riding, a little dressage, and a little natural horsemanship. I don't
intend to show, breed, drive, or jump. I'm 5'6 and weigh 155, so I

intend for this to be a forever home.

Hi Cindy,
Sorry was not able to get back to you.
My gelding is right at 14.1 hands.
He rides, and drives. He has done about 10 CDE's mostly at the preliminary
level.

It sounds like he would fit your bill.
I would like to get $2,000. Although he is pure Fjord, I never had him
registered. I was the breeder at the time. He was my last foal. I do
believe he can still be registered, although, if this is a requirement, you
would want to check with the registry to make sure.

I got to the point, where a gelding doesn't really matter. If he was to
stay a stallion, or, a mare, then I would have registered him.

But, since we are so far apart, it would be difficult for you to see him.

Thank you for checking,
Jerry

Have a wonderful little three-year old mare (about 13.5 hands) going to the
trainers next week. She will be trained to ride and drive. This little gal is
a show stopper to say the least. She will be for sale at $2,500. A bargain
for this mare. I can also breed her if someone would like her bred. Don't
miss out on this one. We're located in mid-Missouri.

Well...might as well let the cat out of the bag for all to see and talk about.
I emailed the Fjord List today, as Monday's are their sale day. And..
since I wrote how I have my Ole up for sale, I thought I best put it on the
Fjord Digest as well.

With much thought and reflection, I've decided to put my Ole up for sale. I
will sell him as a stallion or will geld to the right person/family. THIS BOY
WILL DO IT ALL, HAS DONE IT ALL! He rides, drives, draft, vaulting, jumps,
trail. Will say, jumping is not his thing, he will do it, but only because he
will do whatever you ask of him. He has NEVER freaked at anything, and I have
put him thru the wringer and he is just solid in his thinking. Has done
lessons with beginners, even done cross rails with beginner kids, never does
anything stupid! :-) We have vaulted off of him, and used him with vaulting
students. he will be in Madison for the big horse fair with Keelie vaulting on
him again. Definately will be choosey about where he goes. Want a SAFE horse?,
Ole is it! Will NOT bolt or do anything stupid. Will be standing at stud until
Sold. Ole is 11 now. I've owned him since he was 5 days old. Will be very hard
to part with him, but I KNOW someone will get tons of love and joy out of
owning him. He is the EASIEST horse on the farm to have around. Doesn't chew
on wood, doesn't complain about anything, can be stalled or rough boarded,
totally healthy and sound. VERY clean in his stall. No vises. Is definately a
stallion that someone looking for a first time stallion for breeding can
handle. Does have his Gold Mediallon.

Just to tell you how solid he is, Keelie is practicing trying to do a
handstand on Ole and today, she flipped over backwards and landed on his HEAD!
He didn't move a muscle, just stood there, going, oh boy, what are they doing
to me now.

He also is VERY smooth, one of the smoothest Fjords I've ridden. Can easily
sit his trot. Rides in a KK, soft mouth. Really can't say enough good about
him. He's a good one.

I also still have some really nice other horses on consignment, won't repeat
as I wrote in about them all, if you're looking for a nice quality Fjord,
please check out my website, some have sold but still have some really nice
ones left. All are in training and doing great. Pleasure to work with them
all.

another horse for sale

2006-01-30 Thread Sarah Altrogge
This message is from: Sarah Altrogge [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have another Fjord for sale- due to an over crowded barn. I have somehow
become the contact to sell horses through, not quite sure how that has
happened:) This mare is bigger than Taske, 14.3-15hh 6 yrs old- micro
chipped and dead quiet. Dam- MVF Ramsi, Sire- Elof. She very food motivated,
lol, which I have heard often in the Fjord circles. She been healthy and sound
since her owner got her (I believe she was 1 or 2). She is very low energy
(about the exact opposite of Taske!) very kid safe. she had 30 days from a
reining trainer so she neck reins or plow reins. She has not been bred but she
was vetted, and is breeeding sound. Not mare-ish at all, can't really tell
when she's in heat or not. Her owner describes her as boring and the same all
the time- I consider that a plus for a mare! She asking 6,500 for her if
anyone hears of anyone looking- I know there have been quite a few for sale on
here lately. Thanks!
It's been very interesting reading the bloodline input. I think it's the
same in every reg. everyone likes different bloodlines for different reasons-
and of course the 'best' bloodlines are the ones everyone knows about because
the horse was promoted. Don't count the 'unknown', not proven stallions out.
There are some fantastic horses out there whom have owners who love them, but
can't afford to campaign them to their ability. When it comes right down to it
you just have to evaluate the conformation, movement, and attitude and apply it
to what your mare has and hope for the best :) There will be Fjords out there
that will step up to the plate and take up what the 'greats' of yesteryear have
proven. Hopefully the people whom own these potentials will be able to
recognize their abilities and promote them accordingly. In this area Fjords
are very unknown, and no one is promoting them! There have been attempts at
getting them to equine Affaire in Ohio, but with out !
 the Reg.
backing the effort you can't have a booth in the Breed Pavillion (due to
mis-use by other breeds) and the Reg. has no desire to be involved. How can
other people know how wonderful these animals are if we don't show them? How
can the breed grow and keep it's high standards if people don't know what is
ideal. Look on the internet and you will see Fjord crosses everywhere-
cheap! People need to know why a purebred Fjord is unique and why it's
heritage should be preserved. I will now step off my soap box :)

Experience Driving Horse for Sale in South Carolina

2005-12-08 Thread Claudia Galup
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Claudia Galup)

I am posting this for a friend, and I have known this Fjord since he was
a two year old:

NFR Valdemar ( Leif x Vera, a Solar daughter), is a nine year old
gelding. His driving training began when he was a two year old at
Paradox Farm with Alfonso (Fonz ) Hargrove. He continued driving and
training there for over a year. As a three year old he began competing
in Pleasure Shows In Oak Ridge, NC, Southern Pines, and Landrum , SC.
He never went home without ribbons, and one year won the Overall Pony
Championship at a pleasure show in Landrum hosted by the Carolina
Carriage Club.
Val is a forward moving, willing worker with a fluid, ground covering
trot. He particulaly likes doing cones and obstacles. His education
has continued over the years with Barbara Black in Campobello, SC, and
clinics. Robin Groves described him as a jolly boy. He has the great
Fjord temperament, and has learned some tricks with ClickerTraining.
He has had lots of experience driving and riding on trails. His riding
has only been for pleasure.
His owner has aged down to a small pony, and wants to see Val with
someone who will use him more than she is able to do. She offers him
for sale for $7,000, to a good home.
Also available: Russet leather harness and russet appointed Road Cart-
$1,700.
Val is currently at the Farm of Barbara Black in Campobello, SC.

Hello from Carol Rivoire at Beaver Dam Farm in Nova Scotia -

We've just received four new horses sent to us for consignment sale - In
the group is a gorgeous,
eight-year-old gelding who will knock your socks off with his beauty, color,
and movement! -- This young gelding has had solid training, including 12
months with a top dressage trainer who hated to lose him, and who, when I
talked to her, had nothing but glowing reports on his trainability and
talent. -- He has a superb trot and canter He's a glimmering copper
color with the blackest markings we've ever seen. A black black forelock
and dorsal stripe. Great zebra striping. Absolutely a stunning horse with
big, floating movement. -- If you want to make a strong statement in
dressage, this horse has it all -- Movement, Attitude, Training, the
Perfect Age! -- Priced today at $25,000. Very likely to go up. -- This
horse is a real bargain at the price, and we're delighted and very proud to
be representing him.

Hello Jerry Hope you can make it to Live Oak it would be great to see
you and Ann thanks for the kind words and as far as breeds at the
sleigh rally other than a Friesian from CT all the rest were Morgans
except of course for Mira.

I am offering a fantastic mare for sale. She is an Dutch import, a
model mare first class and a ster in the Dutch studbook highly
credentialed. Her sire is Blinken and her dam is a Tunar daughter
named Hannelore. She rides and drives single, tandem, pair and four.
She is rock steady and is totally road and trail safe. For all you
folks down south I am heading down on Feb 1st and am willing to make a
stop en route as long as it is not too far off the beaten path or she
can be seen at Black Prong in Bronson FL. This mare is made and could
go out and win at Prelim level tomorrow. I use her in lessons where
she has proven herself to be an exemplary teacher. She is eleven years
old this year and will give a serious buyer many years of versatile
use. Sound, sane and healthy she is the perfect mare for someone who
wants to compete or just have fun around the farm, but I will only
sell her to a very good home where she will do more than just have
babies. A mare of this quality and experience does not come along often
so if you are interested give me a holler.

Best to all, Vivian

turnout, reinsmanship and pleasure and placing in cones and obstacles against
horses. She has been driven in clinics, and recently on a pleasure drive at the
St. James Estate near Wayne, IL.Sophie has ridden her and just came back (Sept)
from a hunter series show and placed in every flat class.(Again-against the
horses
-only Fjord there).

She is 100% sound with no vices, she has excellent ground manners, trailers
quietly, she is up dated on dental care (Sept), farrier (Sept), vaccinations and
worming (daily- Strongid C). She - as with all of our horses have the best of
care. She is quiet, willing, trusting and both Howard and Sophie have ridden and
or driven her.

We have not bred her because she has been earning her performance history - we
will sell her bred to the stallion of your choice (we have four - one imported
from Norway the other 3 from Holland). We are asking $14,000 for her.

We are selling her because we have two other half sister to her (all out of the
same mare) and we felt Parabel would take care of and do anything a future
owner
would want now. We have videos available.

My husband and I met and visited with an older Norwegian man in Stanwood WA
this weekend. A friend put us in touch with him about some Norwegian carts
he had imported and was refurbishing. These weren't carts, though, they
were carriages! He also had bits and pieces of the Norwegian harness. But
the point of this is that he has an 8 yo gelding - named Blokken - who is
half fjord and half quarter horse. He wants the horse to go to a good home
as he has had heart surgery and can't do as much with Blokken as he's used
to. What he does with him is drive, pull a sled, pull logs, ride. Blokken
is quite beautiful - with a beautiful darker coat and the fjord mane
perfectly cut to show his black stripe - but one foot with white on it and a
star. And he comes when he's called.

He said he is peppy and needs someone who will spend lots of time with
him. I know there are those who think a fjord cross is the worst thing in
the world. But this guy is already here and is gelded and is trained to do
a bunch of stuff. Oscar said he drives him in parades and has bunches of
kids come over to go for rides around the farm. He told us he was thinking
about $1200 for Blokken so we told him we'd pass it on to you fjord lovers
to see if anyone has some ideas. Email me privately and I can give you
Oscar's number. Teressa Kandianis in sunny Ferndale, Washington

Fjord Horse thought sale

1998-09-04 Thread Anton Voorhoeve
This message is from: Anton Voorhoeve [EMAIL PROTECTED]

This e-mail is from Anton Voorhoeve, Fjord Horses of Narnia.

I finally had some time to add a few of my thoughts and when I pressed
Send it went somewhere but not to this list; so until I know what I am
doing I will keep it short.

This past year has been has been our greatest for education about
Fjords.
1) A week with Bob van Bon in May learning all about grooming, caring
and evaluating with a group of very nice people. We all evaluated the
horses and then our evaluations were evaluated by Bob. It is not the
way they do it in Europe but it was most effective in terms of
learning. 22 horses were evaluated and the overall comment was that we
had a good lot and he was especially impressed by the good teeth, a
problem in Holland.

2) This mailing list has been a great source of information and I hope
to contribute also.

3) Carol Rivoire's book, it's great, congratulations Carol. I am also
writing a book about education and I know how much work it is. I
recommend Carol's book on Fjords highly.

4) I attended the evaluation in Eugene. I did not bring any horses and
was only able to stay the first day. When I came home I mentioned two
things: There as a beautiful stallion called Kanada King well trained
under saddle, but was a handfull in the halter classes. Also, I found
the way the evaluation is conducted not to be very educational. Now,
a few months later, after reading some of the comments and discussing
with Bob van Bon, I am encouraged by reading the e-mail from Wayne, one
of the judges, that he too is concerned about the lack of educational
value in the present system. I hope to breed some of our mares to Kanada
King . Bob van Bon said he would like to buy him or get some frozen
semen . I think the behavior is a red herring in terms of the
genetics, he is otherwise on magnificent horse.

I also want to let anyone know that we will be taking some horses to
Libby and Turlock shows that are for sale following is the list:

(All prices are in American funds)

Note: All of the following horses are registered with the Norwegian
Fjord Horse Registry. Each of the Fjords listed resides at a children's
summer camp where it is of the utmost necessity that they are safe and
reliable mounts and companions.

GUDROD: Thirteen-year-old gelding (Andre X Brynhild). An excellent
all round horse: drives by himself or with a team, currently jumps 2’9
confidently and will go higher, basic dressage, used for vaulting, trail
rides, is used by younger children for beginner riding lessons.
Received the certificate of Model Hengst and an A premium at the
evaluation by Bob van Bon.A patient, good-natured horse that is
eager to please. $6500 (He will be at the Libby 98 show)

NERI: Eight-year-old mare (Andre X Brita). Will do everything! Neri
drives with a team or by herself. She has been professionally trained
in dressage and loves to jump. She currently jumps 3’ with ease.
Good movement and confirmation, very brave, trail rides, used for
vaulting and is used to give first time riders a positive experience.
$7500
(She will be at the Libby 98 show)

CASPIAN OF NARNIA: Two-year-old stallion sired by the magnificent
Elitehengst Myrstein, looks and moves just like him! He is out of
Capstone’s Morgain. Caspian is a very big two-year-old who received an
A premium at the recent evaluation by Bob van Bon. First in the 1997
halter class at the International Fjord Horse Show in Libby MT. He has
been imprint trained and handled exclusively by our staff. He has a
huge stride and is very willing with great strength. He has already
proven his fertility and has a great future ahead! Caspian will long
line, has been backed and been introduced to lunging. When you look at
this two-year-old stallion you will be impressed; he is a magnificent
Fjord. $14000

The following are two imported mares from Holland born in 1996. Both
have been evaluated at the A premium level at the Dutch keuring.
They are registered in Canada and the USA.

ROSYTA: This two-year-old filly (Jars X Helga) has personality plus,
she is a favorite due to her gentle, inquisitive character. Will make
a great horse for a rider or driver who wants to do it all. Will be a
favorite of your children. She has had some basic training and
responds very well. She has the most pronounced stripes on her front
legs of any of our Fjords. $5500

RAISSA: This two-year-old filly sired by Anton’s favorite stallion
Brusvein(the 1986 Norwegian Grand champion) and out of Hjesta. Raissa
is on the smaller side in bone structure and height, that, and the fact
that she is exceedingly good natured and very friendly would make her
and ideal beginners horse for children. She has had some basic
training and has good ground manners and willing to please. $5500
