Hi Gina:
Just a year ago, I too contemplated between a metal or home-made round pen. I
opted on the purchase of a second hand 60 ft. steel with 4' walk thru gate. A
little bit of sanding on the slightly rusted spots and a new coat of paint and
Wa La, I have an awesome round pen that will last for years. I am very gald we
chose the portable panels and gate model. I love it and at any time I would
decide to move it I can or if I no longer need it I know I will have no
trouble
reselling. Also, by chosing to go second hand I was able to afford a
larger and
actually much better quality than what I would have gotten new for the same
money. I purchased mine for $700.00 with no regrets. Good luck in your quest
and Happy round pen training.

Hi Everyone!
I am so happy spring is finally here, and with a
couple of youngsters at the farm that my horses and I
live on (including my Fjern) we are finding ourselves
in dire need of a round pen. The farm owner would
like to acquire one as economically as possible and
the debate is weather to just buy metal round pen
panels or to build something more substantial out of
wood. I think wood would be safer and maybe less
costly (We have an abundance of cedar trees on the
acreage to use for posts)? But we like the
portability and ease of a metal round pen. So, I am
wondering what types of round pens some of you have,
and the pros and cons of each type. Thanks in avance!
