I use Mirafi non-woven fabric. Rolls come 15 X 150...at $500. Expensive if
you can't use all of it. It is used for pothole control in road
construction, so you might find a road construction company that would sell
you a small amount.

It is the same stuff that they use to make Stall Skins. I lay it down,
then get a particular kind of redwood chips to go on top (ones with no
splinters...that cost twice per yard of the cheap ones). One problem is
that the redwood chips dry out hooves pretty severely. I have not figured
that one out yet. On the plus side thoughour horses do not stand in mud
anymore.

It's a fairly large area, and I've heard that the rubber mats are very
pricey! Someone told us to use lime mixed with water, then spread over the
sand and packed down works great. Has anyone else tried this?

I just put rubber mats down over our sand/clay run-ins. It has helped
tremendously with cleanup!

Hi and bye -

We are off to La Paz for the week! If we survive sharks, jellyfish, mantas,
insects and, most importantly, 6 of us smart-alecs being in the same house
for 8 days, we'll be back on the 25th.

Re: Fjord Calendars - We will be making one of Erlend and his Kids one this
Dec. If anyone is interested, let me know privately. It is made up of
separate sheets enclosed in a transparent, erasable, hanging folder. You
can
write stuff on it for one month, then erase it and start over for the next
one, as you move the front one to the back. Or you can write directly on
the
month of choice, it's an appointment-type Calendar.

Happy Thanksgiving to all - Peg
