I apologize to the list, this was supposed to go to Karen privately. Duh!

Yes, that was to what I was referring - a slick fork.

2003-12-10 Thread FofDFJORDS

I don't even see anyone except for Riviore posting on this list that has
been in it as long as I have. Excuse me, Jenson posts every now then. Rest
 of
them don't bother trying to educate newbies.

Last time I attended a fjord only event was the evaluation at Days Creek I
was embarrassed by the number of dopes on the rope I'm not referring to the
horses. It isn't the horses fault the human being doesn't have a clue.

 Cordially,

 Joel Harman

HELLO JOEL,

I am writing this with a bit of tongue-in-cheek, but NOW YA WENT AND DONE IT!
I was at that same Evaluation and I guess you have included me in that bunch
of dopes on a rope! EEE, Joel! I'm trying to maintain my sense of
humor here because I am recalling some of the conversations you and I had when
we
were at Days Creek and I know precisely what you are referring to, but
sometimes we have to remember that we all had to start somewhere and I bet we
(you
and I included) did some of those very same things when we first started out.
In fact, I remember most of the dunderheaded things that I've done and a few
that you have done also! The one saving grace to think about is that, thank
God
we have Fjords or we'd probably all be dead by now!

I'm not sure who is 'counting', but I have been involved with Fjords for
quite a number of years - who came first, you or me - I DUNNO!

As far as promoting Fjords in non-Fjord venues, I and my 'Fjord Family' from
the barn try to tackle at least two major events each year in 'new territory'.
We were the first ones to participate in the first EXPO in Albany. This
year one of our main projects was getting into the Rose Festival Parade in
Portland. That is the second largest parade in this country. We were joined
by Amy
Bud Evers and Pam Garza. It was a BIG DEAL just to be accepted to
participate. We not only participated, but we won the Fancy Dress Group and
the HUGE
perpetual trophy. Our name shall remain on that plaque for many years to
come. We also got quite a bit of good national TV coverage as we rode out of
the
Coliseum.

The last event that we tackled was the Trail Championships at the Oregon
Horse Center. Stalls were front row next to the warm up arena. We hung a BIG
banner and stalls door covers - again - wonderful PR for Fjords. We made a
good
showing there and placed in each of our respective classes.

SO, there are others of us who are actively getting our Fjords out there for
the world to see. I am a Nazi when it comes to making sure that when we do
take our Fjords into the public eye, that they are remembered for good things -
not bad. In fact, I wrote an article to that effect for the Herald a few
years back that was titled 'Nobless Oblige', which basically means, with
privilege
comes responsibility.

You and I travel in different circles simply because you do draft stuff and I
do riding stuff. GOOD! We each are showcasing in our respective venues, but
our main goal remains the same.

SO, please be careful when firing those poison darts. This one hit me square
in the butt. Remember, I am writing this with tongue in cheek and NO am not
wanting to get into a pissing match. That just might turn into a world class
event and I just don't have the energy nor the time. My 'barn name' is the
ALPHA BITCH which one of my students so kindly had embroidered onto a vest for
me! LOL!

There is a sign on the frig in my barn office which says, I am not a BITCH,
I am THE BITCH, and to you, I am MS. BITCH! I got that from a 'customer' who
did not see eye-to-eye with me on a business matter. By the way, he is still
a customer, once we cleared the air on how things are done in my barn! I
laughed when he gave that to me. I took it as a compliment.

Anyway, I just needed to jerk your slack a bit for glumping me into that
'dope on a rope' category.

'Til we meet again, I'm smiling,
