[Flashcoders] cuepoints stop working
I've got a bunch of 10 minutes flvs with embedded cuepoints delivered via browser. At regular intervals, the video pauses at cuepoints and buttons are made visible. Works great! However, if the video is paused for more than a minute, the video ceases to pause. I know the MetadataEvent.CUE_POINT listeners are registering because the buttons are becoming visible at the correct times. The flvplayback.pauses, contained in the same function as the button visibility, are not correctly working, however. Any clue why this might be happening or how to remedy? If you are developing video centric applications, I don't see a platform that comes close. WatchESPN is the perfect example. [Flashcoders] Re: OT: Interactive conferences (Merrill, Jason)
We're transitioning away from Flash mostly and into the HTML/Javascript/CSS world of interactive development. We used to attend Adobe Max, but since we're doing less and less with Adobe products, what conferences would you suggest? What is/are the biggest and best interactive design conferences for people in our industry that use these technologies? Bascially, we were Flash developers and now do most of our stuff with Javascript/HTML/CSS to build interactive simulations and games for learning. What would be the equivalent of Adobe Max? Great question. Many, like us, are in the same transition as you. Our key learning event for 2013 will be O'Reilly's Fluent Conference in San Francisco in May, followed by DefCon5, which is in our hood, NYC, late July. [Flashcoders] 3D engine for dynamic text
Know little about 3D for AS3, so I'm struggling to decide where to focus my efforts. What's the recommendation for a library that will build a 3D model and animate in realtime from input text? Papervision3D Away3D Sandy3D Alternativa3D? Hopefully the learning curve will not bury me. We had lots of fun trying to do the Flash App on a touchscreen and play video on a huge display Same. The way I've solved that is by using a Flash front end that sends data through the serial port to Alcorn McBride or Technovision video players. The former are rock solid 24/7, high operating temperature range, high datarate capable, seamless loops and play lists, well documented, and run forever. Technovision HD players are 1/6th the cost, less capable, have a .3 second blackout during search, but also run forever. Technovision devices are much smaller, which is sometimes useful in space challenged installations. Have had both running in museums continuously for more than 10 years. When these installs fail, it's almost always a PC hard drive isssue. For us it's problematic since the installations may be 12 time zones distant. That problem is going away since we've been using SSDs for the last couple years. [Flashcoders] Re: Safe app certification
use VeriSign. $499.00 for the year Yes. Verisign is great for AIR. They are really just certifying that the deployment has not been altered since the developer packaged it with a certificate. Reliant on the integrity of the developer, which is what I can't afford. I'm really looking for a third party cloud service that can scan a file then package and sign it. Then there only two possibilities for infection: - An infection in the cloud service - An infection that the scan misses That shrinks the exposure and will keep a very security conscious customer happy. And I won't have to be worried about a disaffected employee taking down the Western financial system. ;-) Verisign might have a product, but the first line of contact is of no help.
