[flashrom] Re: Request for clarification on "per-region file arguments" issue

I took a look at the submitted patch (comments and code > diff) and everything seems in order to me. thanks for bringing this to a broader attention. I did have a look again and at least my latest suspicion is not true. The last patch set removed some #if compatibility for libpayload (and then was merged pretty quick- ly), but that seems alright, it probably just was a remnant of the too many rebases. Speaking of rebases, this was my second concern: Patch set 16 wasn't a clean rebase. It undid a lot of already discussed changes. And, alas, you based your final work on top of that. Now when people gave +2 and merged it, I guess they didn't knew that the code doesn't reflect what was discussed on Gerrit. I just had a very quick look. The only things I noticed: Some OOM conditions are not caught in register_include_args(). And the man- page talks about `--include` which is actually still implemented as `--image`. Probably another case of people lost track on what version of the code the patch based. As it was a very big patch and a rather messy review, I think it would be best to have somebody have a thorough look through all the changes. Preferably somebody who didn't work on the patch because it's not easy to spot one's own errors. Nico PS. I also brought up during the last dev meeting that the API would look very differently if we would implement it today (e.g. to allow better separation of the CLI and internals). However, I didn't realize that the patch already works on its own (I had the wrong impression that it requires the unmerged CLI change, but it actually works already if one provides a dummy file to -r/-v/-w; just tested). ___ flashrom mailing list -- flashrom@flashrom.org To unsubscribe send an email to flashrom-le...@flashrom.org

[flashrom] Acer TravelMate P215-41 - 25LQ128DSIG - works
Hi, since GD25LQ128D is marked as untested I like to share my success. I have an Acer TravelMate P215-41. The BIOS was bricked due to an update issue. I successfully reflashed the Bios on the GD25LQ128D (25LQ128DSIG) using a CH341A programmer [1] and flashrom. I removed RAM, hard drive, CMOS battery and accumulator and connected the clip direct to the mainboard using the 1.8V adapter. Read, erase and write was successful. Kind regards Aaron [1] https://www.amazon.com/-/de/dp/B07VMPZFWH/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=ch341a+programmer&qid=1653131696&sr=8-4 ___ flashrom mailing list -- flashrom@flashrom.org To unsubscribe send an email to flashrom-le...@flashrom.org
[flashrom] Welcome our 2022 students!
I am very proud because I have great news: we have 3 students joining the flashrom community to do projects! Aarya will be doing a GSoC project “Optimize Erase-Function Selection” with Thomas (Mentor), Simon (backup Mentor) and Nikolai. Chinmay will be doing a GSoC project “Refactor arguments parser” with Felix (Mentor), Anastasia (backup Mentor) and Evan. Joursoir is joining as an independent contributor and will be working on a project “Restructure shutdown functions and remove global state” with me and Thomas. This will be a more open-ended project and largely a continuation of the effort I was doing last year. Anyone who is also interested in supporting the projects and our students, yes please, you are very welcome! :) Aarya, Chinmay, Joursoir, it would be really great if you can join the next flashrom dev meeting on 2nd June, so that we can say hello to each other! Info in this thread: https://mail.coreboot.org/hyperkitty/list/flashrom@flashrom.org/thread/5EMHJAKZNVWTYXNUARISO355KPRAOCZM/ Between today and 2nd June you will be talking to your Mentors and discussing project plans in more detail. Please prepare: look at the timeline (https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/timeline) and tell if you plan for example vacations so that we can adjust the project schedule. You will have a conversation with your Mentor(s) once a week. You will need to post to the mailing list at least once a week, to share with the community what’s going on your project. Remember if you have any questions, you can always ask your Mentor(s) and/or me or Felix. Especially if you are confused, not sure what to do: keep calm and talk to your Mentor(s) or Admin(s). So, what to do now? Celebrate! ;) And then prepare for next week's conversation with your Mentors.
