RE: [flexcoders] Re: Eclipse becoming HORRIBLY slow??

2006-11-07 Thread Peterson, Chris
Do you have a large file, perhaps a cfc or something? Eclipse seems to get
really PO'd with me when I have 3000+ line templates, mostly multi-function
CFC's, and I see this same thing, very slow typing response, and delayed
appearance of my text.

It is not an XP only issue as I have seen it happen on win2k also.

 J,

I actually think that that's (at least part of) the problem.

It FEELS like memory is being swapped, etc. I can't yet prove it, but
I won't be surprised a bit if I find a garbage collection or swap file
 problem.

Do you let Eclipse sit for a while, say checking email or other items?

You have probably tried this but...

There was blog somewhere that said XP holds the memory or something
when not using Flex Builder. Try to minimize and restore Flex Builder
two or three times and see if that doesn't help (release usage).

SKPS I seem to be having a great deal of trouble lately with

SKPS Is there some sort of GARBAGE COLLECTION that might be getting

[flexcoders] Anyone ever built a RSS scrolling component for Flex 2?

2006-10-20 Thread Peterson, Chris
I would like to have a flexible sized pod for a site I am building, that
I can point it to an RSS address and have it display the Title / story,
and auto-scroll through from one title to the next. Anyone ever seen
such a beastie in Flex? There are tons of JavaScript examples, but I
would like to stay away from floating an iFrame for this app.

RE: [flexcoders] Anyone ever built a RSS scrolling component for Flex 2?

2006-10-20 Thread Peterson, Chris
This is totally beautiful! I have got it to *mostly* work, but I don't
know where or what type of file its looking for when it throws an error
related to proxy.php, and how to direct it to a new rss file? =)

Beautiful work!

[flexcoders] Alternative image file formats

2006-10-12 Thread Peterson, Chris
I would like to be able to show .tiff images, as well as possibly word
doc's or adobe acrobat files, inside my flex app. Is this possible
without a server-side converter (which I think would be too slow for my
purposes)?
