[flexcoders] Expanding Tree Item by Label

2007-01-19 Thread godsman4amy
We are using a Flex Tree component for a menu. To open it, you have to
click the icon to the left of the branch label. We want to enable the
user to click on the label to open the branch. Is that possible? If so,
how can we do that?

Thanks for your help. I tried to search on this and haven't been able
to find anything.

[flexcoders] VSS plugin

2006-10-30 Thread godsman4amy
I am trying to use the SourceForge VSS plug-in for Eclipse to have the
ability to use Visual Source Safe to control the assets of our
projects. (Yeah, I know, but it's what our company wants to use.) I
installed the plug-in in the Flex Builder 2 plugins folder, but I
can't get Flex Builder to recognize it. Is anyone else using this plug-
in (or any other)? Can someone give me advise as to how to get this to
work? Thanks!

[flexcoders] Re: VSS plugin

Thanks! I was actually using the full version of Flex Builder 2.0. I
have now installed the full version of Eclipse and the FB2 plugin and
everything is working great.

I appreciate the help!

[flexcoders] error using load to change image source

2006-10-19 Thread godsman4amy
I have an image that I am setting from a variable (path) that is
set by a webservice call. The problem is some of the images are
missing. In that case, I want to substitute a default image. Here is
the code I used that loops through for each item:

mx:Image id=img height=160 source={path} ioError=setDefaultImg
(); showBusyCursor=true /

It works great for the images that are there, and when an image is
missing it calls the setDefaultImg function. However that is where I
have problems. Here is that function:

public function setDefaultImg():void
{
img.load('assets/pic/defaultITM.jpg');
}

My understanding from the Flex help is that the mx:Image tag
inherits from the SWFLoader which is supposed to have a method
of load. It doesn't give me an error when I save the file, but when
I run it I get an error of TypeError: Error #1006: load is not a
function.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

[flexcoders] problem loading images with URLLoader

2006-10-12 Thread godsman4amy

We are building a bookstore and have one bug we can't figure out. Some of the items' thumbnail images are missing. We wrote some code that tries to load the image, and if it doesn't load correctly it replaces it with a default image. The problem is, the function is returning the string before the image loads or fails and therefore isn't returning the right data. Any suggestions?I'll pasteour currentcode below:The image tag:mx:Image id="img" height="160" source="{sendImage(of.currentItem.prod.getItemAt(O).image)}" ioError="strUse='assets/pic/defaultITM.jpg'"/The function:private function sendImage(str:String):String{  var path:String = "assets/pic/";  var strUse:String = str; // Looks to see if the image exists var ldr:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); ldr.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, imgFailed); ldr.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, imgCompleted) function imgFailed (e:IOErrorEvent):void { strUse = "defaultITM.jpg"; } function imgCompleted (e:Event):void{ strUse = str; }  var url:String = "http://dev.ourserver.org/assets/pic/" + str; var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url); ldr.load(urlReq);   return path + strUse; }

[flexcoders] passing variables into Flex via the URL

2006-09-14 Thread godsman4amy
Okay, I'm sure this is probably an easy thing to do, but I haven't
gotten it to work yet. I need to pass a variable into my Flex app
through a URL like this: www.myurl.com\myflex.html?itemId=12345

Can anyone give me any pointers of how to accomplish this? Thanks ahead!
