Not sure what you are trying to do. If you want the html rendered in the
text area, set the htmlText property:

 

mx:TextArea x=170 y=147 height=229 width=248 id=ta

mx:htmlText 

![CDATA[html

body

Hello

/body

/html]]

/mx:htmlText

/mx:TextArea

 

If you want to actually display the markup as a string, set the text
property:

 

mx:TextArea x=170 y=147 height=229 width=248 id=ta

mx:text 

![CDATA[html

body

Hello

/body

/html]]

/mx:text

/mx:TextArea
