[flexcoders] Re: RTE htmlText img tags

2006-06-20 Thread Suzy Lawson
Here's a blog that allows you to display html within a browser. I was
able to combine this with an embedded iframe which I can hide and
display...to the user, it looks like a normal TextArea within Flash.

I agree. Once Adobe addresses this issue, they should also finally get
rid of the font tag (in favour of a CSS solution) and add support
for some more HTML tags. I don't ask for tables but ol should be
 supported at least.

I've been using the RichTextEditor control in Flex2b3 and am trying to
insert img tags for, well, images into the htmlText.

The improper support (the buggy implementation?) of inline images in
Flash HTML text fields has always been a topic of complaints. Third
party developers have come up with RTE solutions (like the
flashTexteditor component from Flashloaded), but after all they are
not very reliable when it comes to inline images.

Even if you edit the HTML source code directly, the inline images
rarely behave as expected. They do not align properly with the text,
etc. I guess Macromedia knew about the shortcomings in this area, and
that's why the standard Flex RTE component doesn't support inline
images at all. This is definitely an area that needs improvement.

[flexcoders] Re: RTE htmlText img tags

2006-05-16 Thread phillmidwinter

I've never been much of a flash enthusiast but have seen a large amount
of trolling on the issue across the web - it's a pity that an otherwise
very useful control is let down by this ... It seems that there is not
one RTE that works properly anywhere! Flex could be the one if they sort
that issue.
