Yeah, one of the problems with JavaScript is it doesn't have any date/time functions :-) > If we decide to add more functionality in this area, which language's > date and functions do you like better? Not the god-awful Java calendar or util.Date one :-) I like CFs simple dateAdd(interval, count, date) syntax, but there is an alternative Date and Time set of class for Java called JodaTime (joda-time.sourceforge.net/) that I have used before that are also very nice. To clarify my first post, the original code snippit may not work because it trys to set the day of the date to a negative number, which I think will get clamped to 1 ? -- Tom Chiverton This email is sent for and on behalf of Halliwells LLP. I would recommend .NET date library . MS has really simplified it much better than java. -vishwajit -Original Message-From: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]On Behalf Of Paul HastingsSent: Friday, August 11, 2006 9:48 AMTo: flexcoders@yahoogroups.comSubject: Re: [flexcoders] Simple Date Stuff Gordon Smith wrote:> If we decide to add more functionality in this area, which language's> date and functions do you like better?java or coldfusion. __._,_.___ -- Flexcoders Mailing List FAQ: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/flexcoders/files/flexcodersFAQ.txt Search Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexcoders%40yahoogroups.com SPONSORED LINKS Web site design development Computer software development Software design and development Macromedia flex Software development best practice YAHOO! [flexcoders] Simple Date Stuff
With the DateField MXML component, how would I initialize the dates of 2 date components to today and 30 days ago. I've tried the following: var aDate :Date = new Date(); var aSecondDate : Date = new Date(); // Does not work below //aSecondDate -= 30; // Does not compile below dtStartDate.selectedDate = aSecondDate - Date(0, , 30); // Works but does not set the selected Date. Will set the Text field but // the SelectedDate is still null dtStartDate.selectedDate = aSecondDate; dtEndDate.selectedDate = aDate ; Is there a simple example of date arithmetic? Is the selectedDate field the best way to pull out the selectedDate from the DateField component? Is there a way to initialize these on startup? Will the display localize to the dateformat of the viewing browser for localization?
