How are you calling your test.cfm page?
http://whatever/test.cfm?Var1=val1&var2=val2 etc..?
And when you say shoot, like shoot, or in your cfm you're
embedding the .mxml.swf?
If you have debugging turn on, you'll see on your test.cfm page what URL
var's exist.
