If you're using the parallel cable, be sure nothing is in the printer queue assigned to the port you are using for the SDR. I used to have a printer hooked to the same parallel port I now use for the SDR, and accidentally sent a print job to that old printer that is not in use now, and it freaked out the SDR. 73 Brian On 3/24/07, Tom Thompson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi RJ > > I have had things like that happen when the data base gets corrupted. > Load in your backup data base. Hi RJ I have had things like that happen when the data base gets corrupted. Load in your backup data base. The data base is the file named PowerSDR.mdb. If you don't have a backup get one from an old folder or the svn folder or do the setup again. Larry, you might want to try Line Isolators. They break any ground loops and also eliminate any hum. They worked very well for me on both my TO-LINE-IN and TO-LINE-OUT lines http://kb.flex-radio.com/article.aspx?id=10359 Another thing to try is to purchase one of the inexpensive converter boards from Tony KB9YIG that eliminates the large breakout box and converts everything to 1/8" connectors. I believe Tony sells them for less than $15. You can purchase 1/8" stereo lines from MPJA for with ferrite chokes already installed http://www.mpja.com/directview.asp?product=15666+CB de Ken N9VV Lawrence Groom wrote: > I fixed my popping/snapping problem by upgrading to another > Computer. They provide about 2 seconds of suppressed room noise to allow taking a breath before the Leveler starts to increase the mic gain. Locals report a natural good audio with no objectionable room noise even though I have the SDR fan, computer fan and the AL-82 blower all running within 3 feet of the microphone. Hi Flexers, I'm seeing a strange problem when I QSY my rig from MixW using the scroll wheel. Config: MixW to PowerSDR via N8VB's VCOM. When I use the scroll wheel in MixW (click over the waterfall and turn the wheel on my mouse), unless I turn the wheel very, very, very slowly (that is, much slower than one wheel click per second) after just a few wheel clicks (seven seems to be the magic number), MixW loses its mind and displays a frequency such as 732.344.939. PowerSDR shows the correct frequency. The behavior does not seem to be affected by changing the parallel port delay (or the serial port baud rate on either side, which should matter anyhow given that the port is virtual). The problem seems to be unlikely to be solely a MixW problem, as I can QSY my TS-2000 this way (via a physical serial connection) as fast as I can turn the scroll wheel. Re: [Flexradio] external OCXO, silly question
The 50 ohm termination does two things: 1. It terminates the coax from the oscillator so you reduce ringing and the possibility of increased jitter that results, and 2. The maximum input voltage that the DDS can accept is fairly low, and an unloaded clock signal can fairly easily exceed that level. The load helps ensure the voltage will be under that limit. I am in the process to connect an external OCXO to the DDS board and saw that the external XO connection kit handle a 50ohm resistor to 'load' the input of the DDS clock. Is it mandatory ? related to the fact that the DDS clock input Z is >> 50ohm ?.
