Re: [Flexradio] AGC and Constant Volume???

2007-05-18 Thread Steve Kallal
Tim,

I am using v1.8.0 mostly and sometimes v1.9.0 SVN 1180. The card is the
FA-66 at 96000 Hz.

I sometimes use v1.9.0, but right now the NR and NB doesn't work on CW very
well. Bob has told me he is aware of it and is working on it. BTW, I have
been able to use v1.9.0 SVN 1180 at 192000 Hz, but certain not v1.8.0.

I guess my question applies mostly to v1.8.0, but I am interested in answers
for both versions.

Steve N6VL

I have really been playing with a lot of settings on my SDR-1000 since
getting it back from service repairs over a week ago. One thing that
eludes
me is getting a constant volume output with varying signal levels. The
symptoms I experience is the rx audio going into distortion when the
signal
increases. I then have to reducing the RF gain to compensate. Then if
QSB
sets in, I have to manually increase the RF gain level. I changed the
Slope
setting from its default of 0 db which helps some but not entirely. I am
constantly tweaking the RF gain level while receiving.

Is is a way to handle this? Every other rig I have handles this
seamlessly.

[Flexradio] Additional Dayton photos

2007-05-18 Thread k5nwa
For those interested I took a feew photos at Dayton today, they are
at the link below;

< URL:http://www.qrpradio.com/pub/Ham/Dayton2007/ >

I also posted the same photos and yesterdays photos in aprox.
1024x768, 640x480 and a way smaller "icon" for those with modems that
want to peek at the photos before downloading the larger versions.

Today was a very nice day, it was a little cool, in the 60's with
clear skies. Tomorrow I will post additional pictures.

[Flexradio] I'm close in getting WinWarbler to work

2007-05-18 Thread FireBrick
just missing one issue. While I'm printing signals fine...
I can't transmit using the VAC 3.12 and Vcon.

In control Panel> Sounds, I have the VAC selected as per the setup guide
In SDR I have the VC 1In and VC 2Out
In Cat Control I have CAT enabled
and Enable PTT on Port 9

In the VCom Configurator Com 9>Com 15
But in WinWarbler Configuration it tells me that Port 15 is not available
when I try to select it as the PTT Port

When I hit xmit for WinWarbler, the VAC Control Panel shows each cable as
switching, when I try to transmit in WW.
Sample rates are the same as SDR VAC module

Where I see what I think is an anomaly is in the WW Configuration screen.
While I have Windows Defualt soundcard selected.
It only shows:
PSK Soundcard Phone Soundcard
0 Virtual Cable 1 In0 Virtual Cable 1 In
1 Virtual Cable 2 In1 Virtual Cable 2 In

then it lists the other sound cards.

Shouldn't it show a Virtual Cable Out entry?

I'd really like to use WinWarbler as it's integral with the suite.
I'm just one setting wrong somewhere and I can't figure it out.

It's PTT I think...but then my wife says my thoughts have been dead wrong
for over 45 years...

Re: [Flexradio] SDR rig control Cat interface

2007-05-18 Thread FireBrick
Yes, it takes info it seems, only in one direction...from the SDR.

For example, DXBase is constantly 'polling' the Yaesu.
But I see no indication that DXBase is 'polling' the SDR in TS2000 mode.

maybe some of the Kenwood users can tell me if indeed, Kenwood SHOULD be
polled and how often?

Re: [Flexradio] Low recieve

2007-05-18 Thread Lee A Crocker
I nice to get all exercised over gaps and diodes but most lightening damage is
through ground loops and the lightening entering the AC seeking its way to
ground. In other words this incident my have been less related to stuff on the
wire than IC-1 acting as fuse in a ground loop path, especially if there was no
direct hit. Static on the other hand can be off the antenna to a high voltage,
but they are 2 different animals.
