Re: [Flexradio] VOX with VAC
As implemented, VOX and VAC are mutually exclusive. You can however, enable the PTT over-ride and use it to key the rig and use your microphone when VAC is active. Doing so temporarily disables VAC -Tim -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, October 20, 2008 7:06 PM To: flexradio@flex-radio.biz Subject: [Flexradio] VOX with VAC Does anyone know how to make VOX work when using VAC??? Why not use CAT/PTT? What program are you using VAC with? 73, wayne k4elo On Mon, 20 Oct 2008 19:05:59 EDT, [EMAIL PROTECTED] said: > Does anyone know how to make VOX work when using VAC??? ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/

Re: [Flexradio] Memories
I added the 3 mentioned to the test branch this morning. Make sure to start with a fresh database to see them show up. [Flexradio] R: Soliciting info on SPE Expert K1-FA (version 3) PA
Hi all, I use currently SPE Expert 1K with my Flex5000 without any issue. The only problem is the lack of an ALC input in the Flex. For driving this amp you need to setup manually drive power to the amp in order to rich no more than 30-35 Watts output from Flex. If power is to high or to low the amp goes in protection fault switching off the PA. To check the right input power you can read on the Expert Panel in "half power" mode, the PA gain indication: this must remain between 14.0 dB and 16.5 dB, otherwise you get protection alarm. Use normal speaking in the mike, use your tx passband settings and the "Drive" slider to set the out power to remain in the range 14-16.5 dB gain. I drive PTT directly from Flex. I don't use for now, but the flex can be attached to amplifier via serial cable from pc running PowerSDR. The Expert can use Flex commands, but is not implemented completely. This are the great performance: 1. On most band you get 1KW real output in high power. 2. You have no RFI loopback problems. Very good shielded and insulated 3. Very good passband filter and higher harmonics are so small that I don't get any TVI also using 1Kw (this is amazing !!!) 4. It integrates a real antenna autotuner that adapt perfectly the antenna to the amplifier. 5. It's really small, well ventilated (4 strong fans), but it start the fans gradually depending on temp (1 fan always running, 60°C starts 2 fans, 70°C starts all fans). Dual fans setup (normal and contest) 6. Real-time PC controlled via serial cable with supplied software (documentation on the protocol is supplied also). Known issue with this amplifier (2nd series): 1. Not good tuner on the 6 meter band (Autotuner not set less than 1.4 SWR although you have 1.1 antenna connected. 2. Some models have problem with protection on 80mt band (I have no problem) 3. The condenser in the tuner are sometimes defected and blow. (I got this issue on 20mt band tuner, but SPE send me a lot of new condensers to repair the amp tuner, very good service). 4. Expensive...but aligned with the market. Which I thought was interesting. I have never seen anyone on the Reflector mention this amp and was wondering if anyone is indeed using one with a FlexRadio product. I'd also like to get an opinion on how the amp plays too. -Tim - Integrated Technical Services Apex, NC USA ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/
