Re: [Flexradio] MP3 audio file =>Join Us for Gerald K5SDR on Monday March 22 8:30 EDT, (March 23 0030 GMT)

2010-03-23 Thread Ted
Mike,
I was able to put the mp3 file of Gerald's talk into my iPod in the music
folder. I found it by listing by song for "Gerald,s talk", the name I gave the
file.
The mp3 file plays very nicely in my nano-ipod.

Hope that helps,
Ted

Why not make it a podcast then some of us can listen to it on the way to work,
etc.
Then, it is automatically send to our iPods... just a thought,

Re: [Flexradio] Anderson power & flexradio power cord

2010-03-23 Thread Al

Sorry for my delayed two cents worth.. but I read the daily digest...

The choice to fuse the power cable should include an evaluation of the power
source...
An infinite current "lead acid battery" type of power source definitely
requires fusing the the power cable at the source.
With a modern regulated and current limited power power supply is is just a
personal choice.

Most well designed power supplies can run all day into a dead short and not
damage the power supply. If the cable is large enough to handle the maximum
power supply current no cable fuse would be required.
On the other hand, power cable fusing may give peace of mind and only cost a
couple of dollars and a small voltage drop across the fuse and fuse holder.

1.) The radio is fused internally
2.) Adding fusing to the power cable is a personal preference but not required
(I recommend it)
3.) The max wattage of the radio is 25 amps. I have never seen may radio draw more than
about 20 amps key down @ full power. I use no more than a 25 amp fuse for the entire
supply. I use 10 amp fuses on each leg "hot" (+) of the power cable. I have
not blown one yet.
4.) The PA internal fuse is 30 amps
5.) The TRX board internal fuse is 10A

2010-03-23 Thread Tim Ellison
That is understandable, but I think it is important to get the new code out
there (PowerSDR v2.0.0) and get the product released so people can start using
it for things other that FM repeaters. If we had waited until PowerSDR had all
its features, we wouldn't have a SDR to play with for a long while. CTCSS will
come.

This was a very interesting discussion. Thank you for making the recording
available. However, I was surprised and disappointed to hear that the V/U
module *may* not be repeater-ready from the get-go because PowerSDR *may* still
not have the required capabilities at that time.
