[Flexradio] v2.1.5 CW on the SDR-1000

2011-08-03 Thread John Denson
I have just downloaded version 2.1.5 and CWX items are being transmitted highly
distorted on my SDR-1000.  For instance, if I want to send "AI6A" it is sent as
"TE6A".  In other words, the first couple of characters are sent as a long
"dah".

CWX items send just fine on v1.18.3 but not on v2.1.5.

What am I missing?

[Flexradio] Remote operation of PSDR from an iPad 2 using Skype for iPad

2011-08-03 Thread Ronald G. Parsons
Recently, KS4JU published an article in Ham Radio Science entitled “Using the
iPad to Control Your Rig”
http://www.hamradioscience.com/2011/05/using-the-ipad-to-control-your-rig/

Unfortunately, at that time, there was no easy way to get two-way audio to work
using Skype as it was not multi-tasking friendly and AirDisplay on the iPad
supported only audio coming from PSDR – there is no microphone input. I got
around this by running the audio channels on my iPhone using Skype which
eliminated the multi-tasking problem.

Yesterday, Skype released an iPad version of “Skype for iPad” free from the
Apple App Store. This version of Skype for iPad works in the multi-tasking
background.

Once PSDR is running in AirDisplay on the iPad, double-click the Home button on
the iPad, execute Skype for iPad and initiate the call to Skype running on the
FLEX machine (it must be configured to answer automatically). Then double-click
the Home button on the iPad again and go back to PSDR. There, operate PSDR as
usual. You can even do a QuickAudio recording to listen to your transmit audio
stream.

When finished, you can quit PSDR and hang up the Skype connection.

Stig,

I have been very impressed with the Flex-1500?s audio system accuracy.
Because the direct-conversion signal goes directly into a CODEC to be
digitized, there is no string of IF and AF amplifiers to affect the signal.
>From the CODEC, the digitized signal goes via USB to the PC at a maximum
sample rate of 48,000 samples per second.  From the Power SDR application, I
then use VAC (Virtual Audio Cables) to distribute the audio to other
applications, so again, the frequency response is ?digital? flat from near 0
Hz to almost 24,000 Hz.  I just ran a test using PSDR?s built-in noise
generator and DL4YHF?s Spectrum Lab for signal analysis.  The software
generated white noise traveled across the USB cable, D/A in the CODEC, A/D
in the same CODEC, and back across the USB cable.  The measured frequency
response was flat within ? Hz form near 0 Hz to almost 24 kHz.  I will send
the spectrum graph to you directly.

The Flex-1500 used the Texas Instruments TLV320AIC33 CODEC.  Here is the
datasheet link so you can see all of the specifications:

Hello,

I'm considering buying a Flex-1500, but somebody here has complained about

the audio.

I don't know if that is a user-problem, newbie that don't know how to

configure it right, or if the audio amplifier used in it is bad, or

broken.(?)

I would require a flat audio curve within the SSB passband I set up.

Can I expect that from a Flex-1500?

Also on TX?

OK all you Flex Guru's,  here's what I would like to do.  I would like to
run HRD and Bob's S meter at the same time.  The problem I am having is they
can't share the same virtual com port.  In Power SDR I assign a virtual com
port created in Comm0Comm to Cat Control.  If I use the Comm0Comm mated com
port,  I can get HRD working and Bob's S meter working but not both at the
same time.  There is a conflict when each program asks for the same port.
Can I do this?
Thanx

[Flexradio] Upgrade

2011-08-03 Thread Don Sachnoff
I just thought I would comment on the upgrade to latest version of
the Flex PSDR software.  The upgrade was flawless.  I upgraded a 1.5k,
3k and 5k without any issues at all.  I used Ray's transfer software to
copy most everything from the previous release to the current release
and again no issues.

Hey there guys -

I just picked up a Tmate and could use some help getting it going.

I didn't realize there was more to it then a plug and play device.

I have downloaded the VSPE port emulator program but cannot figure out how
you set the ports up.

If possible I would like to speak with someone who has gone through this
configuration.
I am running a 5K.

Thanks.

I need to buy a Window OS for the 1500, my Mac with Boot Camp just does not
run that well. In fact, the thing does not really run at all.

Any suggestions?

Is a laptop just as good as a desktop? Or does it make any difference?

I have been to Fry's and Best Buy but come away confused as all the Windows
OS computers are just too many variations.

Thanks

Having played with PowerSDR (demo mode) on laptop, I will say that a desktop
is a much better way to go. If you plan to operate portable, a laptop is the
only way to go.

For desktop PC's, check farther back in these archives for Neal, who
custom-builds PC's that work with Flex radios. You could also build your
own, as many of us have.

I thought there were some Mac/Boot Camp users here having great results.
Maybe they will chime in.

I'm using a Mac Book Pro purchased new in mid 2010 with 8gb RAM, high
