[Flexradio] F-3K filter question.

2011-08-06 Thread Steven L Hess

Does the F-3K use the same filters for 30 and 20 meters?

I am getting QRM on 30 meters from another rig here transmitting on 20
meters and am trying to find a solution for that. It has to be a nearly
free solution and not transmitting isn't one of the answers.

[Flexradio] External Keyer with 5000a

2011-08-06 Thread Brad A. Steffler
When using an external keyer with the 5000a, the quick start guide says
to connect the /dit/ to the tip of the 1/4 inch connector and the /dah/
to the ring while the shield should be connected to the common. Why do
we need a three conductor connector when using an external keyer? It
would make sense to me to connect the keyer output just to the tip and
the sleeve, just like a straight key. The only problem I can see is that
the keyer might need diodes on the output lines going to the output jack
on the keyer.

[Flexradio] Thanks for videos on digi setup, Dudley!

2011-08-06 Thread William Speedie

After having trouble with getting PSK set up properly on my new Flex 5000A, I
discovered Dudley's videos on the Flex web site about how to do the software
settings. And, hooray, it works!

I installed com0com per the instructions and got it to work with DigiPan 2.0,
making some contacts this afternoon. I love the way the filters can be
narrowed down till the QRM disappears.

So, many thanks, Dudley for helping me get back on my favorite mode.

Re: [Flexradio] Pan Adapter Spectrum Width

2011-08-06 Thread W8HW
That might work for phone operation, but lacks a lot for CW and even digital
use. This is because 10hz from the signal can be too much.

Hi.

FWIW, I always run my 5000 at 192K (with a 28" screen) and would like a
little more, up to the width of the band I'm on. I use it to eveluate band
activity and identify changes in signals as I rotate my antenna. It shows
where the band is open to quickly! I'm primarily a phone operator so I
don't need the added resolution available at 48K.

Interesting how different flexers use their panadaptors. I like using 192k
sampling rate on a 24 inch monitor. And I can see all kinds of things!!

Thank the folks at Flex for giving us these choices.

I personally cannot use it if the displayed spectrum is greater than
40KHz,
things are just too small for any value. Don't know if its just my
personal

setup but, from a display perspective, any sampling rate over 48KHz is
wasted on me.
