Re: [Flexradio] The 3000 dilemma

If you're feeding with coax, create a choke with several turns of coax at the
antenna feedpoint. This cured a similar problem I had with my 3k and RF in the
shack.

Re: [Flexradio] The 3000 dilemma

2012-05-29 Thread John Kramer
Bill

I just returned 2 weeks ago from a mini DXpedition to Lesotho 7P8. I faced
the same dilemma - I usually take along a small IC-7000 on trips such as
these. But this time round I decided to take my Flex-3000. It performed
very well, and I loved to have all the features of PSDR while there.
However, I have never had problems such as yours. I only use Apple
Mac computers - iMacs at home, and MacBook Pros when away.
My MacBook Pro laptop gives me a CPU load of less than 20 %.
The grounding screw is under the power connector at the back of
the 3000.
Now, if you are unable to get your setup working properly at home...you
can be guaranteed to have problems while you are away. It appears that all
your problems point to your DELL laptop. If you don't have a different laptop
that you can try, then go through your laptop and switch off or disable as many
things on it as possible - wireless adapters, bluetooth, virus programs etc etc
etc
You don't want your laptop doing a myriad of things in the background while
you are trying to run PSDR. You can also try adjusting your buffers and
sampling
in PSDR to try and make up for the rather limp laptop.
If you can't solve this before you leave then rather take something else along,
to
avoid frustrations.

Oh, enjoy your trip...nice destination you are going to !!!

There is a grounding screw for the 3000 right under the power connector.

[Flexradio] Flex Control observation...

2012-05-29 Thread Tim Lemmon
Hey everyone.

Today I received my Flex Control here at home. Installed it fine, but as
the directions suggested, I ended up with a com port conflict in Windows.
Windows picked one of the same com ports already in use by my VSP emulator.

The directions say if we use a com port emulator, note all our settings,
then delete the emulator, install the Flex Control, then re-install the
emulator (and of course set it all up again). Why go through all this
trouble? I simply went into the properties of my Flex Control (Windows 7),
chose the port settings tab, then clicked on the advanced button. From
there, I could easily change the Flex Control com port to another unused
port. After a quick reboot, everything worked fine.

Perhaps Flex can change their documentation for other folks with their new
Flex knob?

[Flexradio] Win Test -MMTTY engine Ptt Power SDR

2012-05-29 Thread Hector Garcia XE2K
Hi Guys

I have the following question, but let me explain

I have my Flex 3k working fine with Fldigi, HRD and MMTTY stand alone
running the VAC and VSP manager all integrated and working fine

But I want to use a software all in one the lightest possible for my small
needs here in the station

I found that Fldigi works but I don't like the integrated log, for that
reason I'm using the Win Test
the Win Test works fine for CW using the F-keys and keyboard no problems

But here is my problem, I load the MMTTY engine to WT and made it receive and

transmit but NO PTT

I move all what I can remember or can image can work, but not at the moment,
even create another port,

Will like to know from some one who made it work and how.

How to make work the RTTY (PTT) installed in Win Test with power SDR?
