[Flexradio] RF on Heil Pro Set Elite
I was reading the information on the modification to the Yeasu cable for the Heil Microphone's. So I pulled apart my Heil Yeasu cable and I see there are shields on both pin 7 and pin 5. However with this headset I obviously have no connector at the microphone to use the cut off wire that is supposed to be inside the cable. Is anyone using this Heil model with the Flex or do you have any input on any change to the connector for this headset? I didn't have RF issues with the Kenwood TS-480HX but I can see and hear the issues on the Flex. I'm trying to get my Ameritron ALS-1300 on the air, but with the RF it's almost useless. -- Larry W8LIG ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/

I bought a new mic at the Sunday hamfest, a Yeasu MD-100a8x and when I put it on my Flex 1500 I was told there was a tone on it. I assume it was feedback. Re: [Flexradio] RF on Heil Pro Set Elite
Larry, Pin 7 is the audio ground and should be the shield around the mic audio input and is not connected to chassis ground. Pin 5 is chassis ground and the PTT return line. On some cables the shield to chassis ground surrounds all the wires in the cable and on others it only encloses the PTT + line. Do you have RF in the audio all the time or only when the amp is keyed? Re: [Flexradio] New mic
Jerry, I recently bought a new Yaesu MD100A8X and I use it with both my Flex 1500 and my FT-950. I use the LDG SLS-2 switch and switch between the two rigs with no problems. I did not change any wiring. I use the Flex on HF and also with a transverter. I have also used the original Yaesu FT-950 hand mic, MH31 in the same way before I got the MD100, with no problems. If I can provide any other info let me know. Good luck. Re: [Flexradio] Must turn on PSDR twice
I had this problem as well and it is just as you describe. I had just upgraded my computer with a new motherboard, CPU, and memory; and I wrestled with the problem for weeks. I spoke to Dudley at Flex about it and he was aware that this problem exists. I tried a number of different Firewire cards and ended up going with a ProAV PVC-316 (TI chipset), and for now (knock on wood) I no longer see the problem. My computer consists of an ASUS P8Z77-V Pro motherboard, an Intel Core I7-3770K CPU (Ivey Bridge), Corsair Vengeance CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 16GB Memory, a XFX GeForce 9600 GT video card, a Sandisk Extreme 120Gb SSD drive, and the ProAV PVC-316 Firewire card. I also have a 4-port serial card in the machine and a SoundBlaster Audigy II zs audio card. I run Windows 7 64 bit and Nod32 for antivirus software. With this setup I found that in BIOS I could load optimized defaults and still keep the DPC's in the 75-150 range. While dialing the machine in I had only the video card and Firewire card installed. I tried a number of firewire cards (some with TI chipsets and some not) until I found that the PVC-316 card worked best in the system. I love the system as it is quite powerful, and I can listen to my Flex-5000, browse the internet, and have APRS-Point running with my Kenwood TM-D710 radio through a serial port all at the same time, and the load on the CPU cores are light and the DPC's remain well under 500, usually less than 200. There is never a burp or stutter out of PowerSDR (96k sample rate), but I had a hell of a time getting to that point. I submitted a support ticket request on this problem #1542. -Original Message- From: Patrick Greenlee Sent: Friday, July 06, 2012 3:25 PM To: Rod Brink ; flexradio@flex-radio.biz Subject: Re: [Flexradio] Must turn on PSDR twice Can't reproduce now where have I heard that before? The car, A/C, blender, microwave, or whatever only makes the funny noise for the XYL never for me) Apparently there are several of us experiencing the same or similar anomalous behavior so it is neither an operator hallucination nor a particularly rare event. I hadn't thought of the default sample rate. Thanks for that idea, Rod. I'll investigate that on my equipment. I suppose I can open up the FGS (AKA blue icon) and play with the sample rate. I had set mine to 192k. I too am running W7, Pro 64 version. I'm ba-ack... Did few quick experiments. If FGS has 48k sample rate it takes two starts to get sound. Reopen FGS and sample rate has been set to 96k (was 48k.) If I set FGS to 96k then only one start is needed to get sound and FGS remains with 96k. If I set FGS to 192k then two starts are required to get sound and reopening FGS the rate was set to 96k. Synopsis: If FGS sample rate is set to 96k it stays at 96k and only one start is required to get a good start. If sample rate in FGS is set to 48k or 192k then two starts are required and the sample rate in FGS is reset to 96k, by the gremlin(s) Easily reproduced on my completely stock installation. I have no other software running in conjunction with PSDR (haven't gotten that sophisticated yet.) So apparently my REAl problem is that I can't run any other sample rate than 96k. 96k is OK but I'd like to be able so set it to other values. Any of you gurus got any ideas? 73 Patrick AF5CK -- From: Rod Brink k...@comcast.net Sent: Friday, July 06, 2012 10:26 AM To: flexradio@flex-radio.biz Subject: Re: [Flexradio] Must turn on PSDR twice I too have this problem. I believe it's related to the default Sample Rate that comes up on startup in Flexradio Global Settings (blue icon on the desktop). If the default doesn't match the sample rate last used in the main program (in Setup/Audio), it takes two starts to get them in sync. In my case I always run at 96k but the default in Global Settings frequently (but not always) comes up 48k. Then it takes two starts. If the default comes up 96k it takes only one start. I'm running W7. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. I've mentioned this before to Flex Support but apparently they don't see this happening in the lab. 73, Rod KQ6F ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/ ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/ ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz
