Re: [Flexradio] PowerSDR-DataTransfer Problem
One of the Laws of Software Entomology states that the removal of 2-3 bugs generates at least one new bug. Another statement issued frequently by software entomologists is that there is ALWAYS AT LEAST ONE MORE BUG. Frequently heard lament among software maintainers, ...but I only changed one line of code and now...) Hang in there guys, we have really good software and will end up with better software soon. Compared to Microsoft the PSDR software is the paragon of virtue, the epitome of software perfection. Compared to the premature releases of buggy not ready for prime time software the Gatesian nightmare has foisted off on their beta testers (customers) PSDR is like manna from heaven. You can always tell the pioneers (early adopters), they are the ones with the arrows in their backsides. There will always be a significant number of users who want to be first getting a new version running. Bless them as they are like the Marines storming the beach taking high casualty rates to pave the way for the rest of us. In the olden days smart sysops used to warehouse update media (tapes back then) with version numbers ending in zero (or other major releases) until the rate of bug fixes died way down and then they upgraded to the new version + the updates/bug fixes. Smart guys wishing to fish through the ice are never the first fisherman out on the newly frozen lake. Exercise a little patience and let the brave/fool hardy be the guinea pigs. We must learn Patience... PATIENCE... P A T I E N C E But just how ^% ^* *%^( long will that take!! Re: [Flexradio] SDRDataTransfer No Longer Available
Alan and Don, thanks for your advice. I am doing fine with the old version and have no real incentive to upgrade immediately. I like what I hear about the new improved lemon scented version and as soon as the fog of war clears sufficiently I will upgrade, probably without incident. For me there is no downside to waiting a while. I use my F5KA daily and have no issues. I currently have the radio and PC separated by 50 ft of cable and it works fine. Soon I will try 150 feet or so. No rush, one step at a time. Now that I have version 2.7.2 installed I am interested in the “Enhanced Waterfall Display” improvement. I'm using a F3K with Windows 7-64 bit for reference. I guess I need to be educated in what I should be looking for because I really can't tell any difference between activating the “Weak signal display optimization” or not. I can see where this might be a long answer so is there something I can read that might help explain what differences I might see? Yes I did read that and I did remove the earlier version of data transfer before installing 2.7.2. However. that had nothing to do with the problem that many people are reporting. You can reproduce that problem by starting PSDR-DT with PSDR running. When the message telling you that you must first terminate PSDR comes up, click Cancel. Oops, all your DT settings are gone including the URL that allows you to download new settings! 73, Rich - W3ZJ Joe wrote: Did anyone bother to read the notes before you installed the new software It clearly stats that if you have a earlier version of data transfer you must remove it before installing 2.7 Sent from my iPhone ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/

Re: [Flexradio] PowerSDR-DataTransfer Problem
I just successfully updated to PSDR 2.7.2 I fussed with the data base upgrader software for a while. ... and then... I installed 2.7.2 OK and retried the database upgrader which then worked. From what I saw you have to install 2.7.2 first in order to have a destination to which to send the old settings. Feel free to disabuse me of any misconception. I don't think I like all the snow in the waterfall picture. My favorite display mode is Panafall, or at least it was. I don't think the new messy version makes weak signal detection easier. In fact, in my opinion it makes it harder. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a user accessible control to set the sensitivity/gain for the waterfall. Maybe there is and I don't know how to do it. Re: [Flexradio] PowerSDR-DataTransfer Problem
Earlier this week FlexRadio Systems released PowerSDR^(TM) v2.7.2 with the new PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.0 Utility. It came to our attention that when using PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.0, a certain sequence of events of would result in the PowerSDR-DataTransfer's setup file becoming corrupted, not allowing for proper operation. This software defect was identified and corrected in version 1.0.1 of PowerSDR-DataTransfer which is now available for download and installation. Also PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.1 is not included in all new PowerSDR v2.7.2 installations. FlexRadio Systems recommends that you upgrade to PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.1 as soon as possible. Below is the PowerSDR-DataTransfer upgrade procedure. 1.) Shutdown PowerSDR and PowerSDR-DataTransfer if they are open 2.) Uninstall PowerSDR-DataTransfer Either open the Windows Control Panel and use the Remove a Program applet to remove PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.0 -or- Use the Uninstall PowerSDR-DataTransfer option located in the Windows Start Button-FlexRadio Systems-PowerSDR-DataTransfer folder to uninstall PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.0 3.) Download and install PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.1 Download the updated PowerSDR-DataTransferSetup.exe program from the FlexRadio web site. Run this program on the PC where you have PowerSDR v2.7.2 loaded to install it. The download URL is: http://support.flex-radio.com/Downloads.aspx?id=435 Once you have upgraded to PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.1, you should be able to migrate data from previous versions of PowerSDR into PowerSDR v2.7.2 without any operational errors. If you experience any issues with the upgrade of PowerSDR-DataTransfer v1.0.1 or are not comfortable running the upgrade procedure listed above, please submit a HelpDesk support ticket at http://helpdesk.flexradio.com/home for official FlexRadio Systems technical assistance.
