[Flexradio] psk
Is there some sort of step-by-step for putting a Flex (specifically a 1500) on psk? Can't seem to find a lot but I'm a newbie to SDR and I'm just getting set up. Re: [Flexradio] newbie question
Thanks to all for the comments. Will pursue this further as I continue to learn more about the radio. It's a long, long way from the Hallicrafter SX-101 that was the first receiver here back in '76, so I'm ramping up on it. mike k5wmg On Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 9:38 AM, Tim Ellison wrote: > The S-meter on all Flex radios is calibrated like a RF spectrum analyzer to > S9 = -73 dBm = 50 uV, so what you are seeing ins actual power in the RX pass > band. > > Since you are seeing integrated power, the size of the RX filter is a > determining factor. [Flexradio] newbie question
Still setting up a 1500 here and the issue of the moment is noise threshold. I am in the country and the radio I removed to replace with the 1500 had a noise level of S1 or so. With the 1500, I am up around S5 as baseline noise level. Nothing else has changed. The receiver is hotter, but not tremendously so, and I do not have the rig strapped to the computer yet and I'm hoping that is some of the issue. mike, k5wmg ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/

Re: [Flexradio] A computer to use
Thanks to the many who emailed off list. I much appreciate it and the questions likely have just started. Do have a computer now and a 1500 on the way, so I should be up and running (I hope) in about a week. Again, much thanks to all. Good group here. Now if I could only get the hole in the rocks done for the tower as easily...Anyone in the Pipe Creek area with a rock drill/post hole drill? [Flexradio] Flex 1500
I am totally new to the Flex, having seen it at one hamfest. I am not a computer guy, though I am pretty competence as a ham (built a lot of stuff, never owned a commercial antenna, etc.). I recently switched here from Windows and PCs to Mac (I'm a writer), and really would prefer a mac platform if cost possible. That said, money, as usual, is an issue. I am considering a 1500 for the primary station and I am looking for some help with making this as painfree as possible. From all I've read, it appears most of the issues seem to be related to compatibility and speed, so I am looking for suggestions to try and get things right the first time around. I'm considering a mac mini as the computer half of the system. Small, and with the 1500, it would make a really compact station. Again, not a computer guy so if someone is using a setup that is working well and was reasonably priced, I'd sure like to talk - mac or PC if a PC setup worked for you easily. If you'll contact me off list, I'd very much appreciate it.
