[Flexradio] SDR1000 and Writelog Contesting software

2007-04-12 Thread SERGE BERTUZZO
Has anyone successfully been able to use Writelog with the SDR1K?

I have been trying for a couple of evenings and have had no luck. What I would
like to do is to use Writelog for CW contesting as well as together with MMTTY
for RTTY contesting. I have used the SDR for casual operating and would like to
use it for contesting as well.

The setup here is the SDR1K with the 100 W PA - Running PowerSDR version 1.8.0
VAC 3.12 , vCOM and Writelong Version 10.55D
3.0 GHz P4 computer wth 1 GB RAM

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Serge

 Subject: [Flexradio] Lack of audio

Hello to the group. Finally found some time to download TortoiseSVN and
the latest revision of the PowerSDR software (690) this evening.

All went well and the software loads with no problem. However, the problem
that I have encountered, is that I am unable to hear any audio from the
speaker - even though I see activity on the band. If I go back and use an
earlier version of the PowerSDR software (version 1.6.0) the audio is loud
 and clear.

As the PowerSDR ver. 1.6.0 software allows me to hear audio I assume that
the issue is software based (probably a setting that I have not set up
properly in the latest release?) and not a hardware problem. I have gone
through the SETUP menu with no luck.

Any help / guidance would be appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

 FYI - I am using a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz machine with 512 MB and a Delta 44
sound card. SDR1K is a 100 W unit with built in ATU.

Re: [Flexradio] PowerSDR Ver 1.4.5.P5/P6 - Strange TX pulsing UPdate

2005-11-17 Thread SERGE BERTUZZO

Further to my email below, I am continue toexperience the pulsing problem on TX when using the SDR in conjunction with MIxW. I have tried both Preview 5 and Preview 6 and I experience the same problem. I do have some additional info to share with a view to solving this problem.

The pulsing does not appear to occur when I transmitthe first time (just after I activate MixW) However,if I transmit twice in a row the pulsing begins on the second transmission and by the third transmission and beyond, it is pulsing at a rate of approx 1 pulse per second.

All, software VCOM/VAC and PowerSDR I believe are set up as perinstructions (Bob - N4HY) . Hardware wise I only have the D44 connected to the SDR and computer- everything else has been removed from the computer.

Any suggestions/guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello to the list. I hope someone can shed some light on a problem that I am experiencing. The setup here is a Pentium 4 3GHz - 512 BM - Delta 44 , VAC and VCOM. I am using MixW for my digital modes.

I am finding that while I am able to control the MixW software and decode digital transmissions, I seem to experience a pulsing action (approx 1 sec intervals) on the transmitted signal. On PSK or RTTY you can also clearly notice the pulsing action on the panadapter display of the PowerSDR console.

I thought that this problem could be related to the VAC settings. I adjusted the buffer size in the SDR VAC setup from 512 - 2048. With the lower setting the pulsing (still occurs but not as frequent) however it is much more pronounced (almost seems stronger as well) when I have the buffer set to the 2048 setting.
I thought that perhaps I had a SWR problem with the antenna so I tested the SDR with a dummy load and experienced the same problem. I have monitored my signals on another receiver and am able to hear the pulsing action.

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

Re: [Flexradio] PowerSDR Ver 1.4.5.P6 - TX pulsing UPdate (2)

2005-11-17 Thread SERGE BERTUZZO
I thought I would go back to square one with this issue. I decided toreturn to using my second sound card (Audigy 2 ZS) for digital modes usingVCOM and actual physicalcables to see if I could duplicate the pulsing issue. After setting up the software (MixW and PowerSDR) I had no puslingproblem at all with either version 1.4.4 or 1.4.5 Preview 6.

I tried every digital mode many many times with long cq's and test transmissions without a the occurrence of a single pulse. It would appear that the problemmay besomehowrelatedto the use of the VAC. I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling the VAC softwarebut I was not able to locate the uninstall file/instructions. WIll keep looking though.

Just thought I would report my progress to the list.

2005-11-16 Thread SERGE BERTUZZO
Hello Jeff. Thank you for your response. Given your comments, I tried to press the MOX button prior to activating the RTTY/PSK transmission with the same results. The only way I can minimize the pulsing somewhat is by changing the VAC buffer setting to 512.

Serge,

This may not be related at all to your problem, but I've experienced pulsing in SSB mode - turned out it was related to an improperly wired mic. One clue was that there was no pulsing if I pressed the MOX button on the display, but pulsing occured if I used the mic's PTT button.

Does this problem *always* happen? If you key with MOX, does it go away?

[Flexradio] VAC and Second sound card

2005-11-14 Thread SERGE BERTUZZO
Hello everyone!

Having finally managed to get my SDR working on CW (well, operator error and a bad commercial stereo cable!!!) I am now ready to move on to purcahsing the VAC. I do haveone question however.

If my understanding is correct from what I have readon this list,by using the VAC software, I will no longer requiremy second sound card (Audigy 2ZS) for digital modes. If this is correct, then I assume that I canuse this sound card for other applications including the Teamspeak Forum. It seems a shame to have a 3 GHz machine sitting there only using between 7 and 12 %of its processing power (for the SDR and surfing) and running Teamspeakfrom a laptop.

[Flexradio] Using vCOM software with MixW digital software

2005-09-10 Thread SERGE BERTUZZO
Hello to the group. Trying to get my SDR to work with VCOM and Mix W digital software. It may be something simple but I just cannot seem to get MixW to key the PTT and transmit audio.

I am able to receive no problem. I have my vCOM set up as follows:

Port 1 - Com port 7
Com port 8

Port 2 - Com port 1
 Com port 2

I have the SDR CAT Control set to com 7
SDR PTT Control set to com 2

I have the MixW CAT and PTT control set to com 8

However, I am not sure where to insert the info for the vcom com port 1? I have the PTT via CAT box checked in MIX W in the PTTCAT control box. For testing purposes, I am simply feeding the audio output from the MIXW software directly to the mic input on the from panel of the SDR.

Any assistance would be appreciated. It appears that I am not getting PTT as the SDR does not transmit. No sure what I am doing wrong.

Thank you in advance. 73's

[Flexradio] vCom installation difficulties

2005-09-04 Thread SERGE BERTUZZO
Hello to the list.I want to get my SDR working on the digital modes with the vCom program if possible. Having some difficulites installing the software.I have downloaded the pdf information file but still having difficulties.

I downloaded the software and unzipped the file. Ihave modified the .ini file and saved it back to the directory. I noted in the ini file that there were com ports available well beyond 10. I have a Digi Port Server which allows me to have up to 10 hard wired com ports at present. I wanted to try to use VCom's com ports 12 and 13 under Pair No. 5 in the ini file.

I have two questions, is it possible to usevCOM's com 12 and 13 withthird party digital software? My other question which is a very simple one I am sure - how do I actually install the vCOM software on my computer once I have configured the ini file? I must be missing something here as I cannot find the executable file to launch the software.

I would appreciate any and all assistance. If you would like to save bandwidth please reply direct.

Thank you allin advance...
