Re: [Flexradio] Issues Remaining
Mark, that is good news and I appreciate you spending the time to check it out with the new enhanced stability circuit. I don’t have my Z3801A GPS controlled frequency source available right now so I used the K6JCA console and WWV to do some limited experiments to check transmit oscillator drift. The rig had been on for several hours. I tuned in WWV on 15 MHz and zoomed the spectrum mode. I set the SDR-1000 clock offset to show WWV centered at exactly 15.00 MHz. I transmitted into a dummy load at 25 watts (max continuous carrier) in tune mode for various times up to 5 minutes then switched back to WWV to measure the oscillator drift. I repeated this test several times. Results ranged from 4 to a maximum of 8 Hz. I also used my FT-1000MP’s (with high stability osc option) CW tuning indicator to check drift during transmission. The tuning indicator will change if the deviation is more than about 10 Hz. No deviation was ever shown. From these experiments I believe that the transmit frequency drift issue has been resolved. While many (including me) are a little nuts about frequency stability and want to tie everything to a GPS controlled standard, the SDR-1000 is now as least as good as most modern transceivers. [Flexradio] Issues Remaining
FWIW.I have decided to postpone purchasing an SDR 1K due to the following reported problems. If I am in error please correct.. 1. On CW the rig goes "out of phase" periodically 2. The power output can suddenly jump from 100 watts to 120 to 130 watts 3. Frequency stability can vary from 15 to 25 hz while transmitting as the osc heats up (design Flaw?) Otherwise the SDR 1k seems to be an excellent rig with great potential, but any one of the above listed issues is a deal killer. Toby W4CAK -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... [Flexradio] CW Latency Problem Solved?
Is the Firefox card on the approved lost to enable warranty guarantees? Or are you talking about the Firebox Firewire which is approved? [Flexradio] Cw Latency Problem Solved?
I was just told by someone that Gerald made the comment on Teamspeak last night that the cw latency problem had been solved. Someone is already able to send cw at 60 wpm QSK with no latency and has found a way to do this. Does anyone else know about this and in particular how is this achieved. by a software change or hardware addition. Also does anyone know about the timeline for this improvement to the SDR 1K. [Flexradio] SDR 1K
Is there anyone who lives close to Johnson City, Tn. who owns an operating SDR 1K? I am interested in finding out more about this rig and would like to see one in actual operation. You can email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Or you can call 423 929 1346. I have both a spam blocker for email and a nuisance call blocker on the phone, but if you follow directions given you will get through.ThanksToby W4CAK -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
