[Flexradio] SDR 1000 oscillator

2011-05-09 Thread l s
Anyone out there still using the SDR 1000. The external oscillator (isotemp
ocx01310-100) that came with my recently purchased SDR 1000

is not working properly. The radio was recently returned from Flex and  I was
advised that the oscillator is very unstable and should be replaced.
I would like to purchase the original Valpey Fisher 161L 200 mhz oscillator and
return it to the original configuration. However if I can not find it

I would appreciate any suggestions/help in resolving this problem.

Tnx much

[Flexradio] Fw: More Laptop Info

2009-08-21 Thread L&S Kubis

Subject: More Laptop Info

To add to the Laptop computer debate/info,here is my recent experience,
which I hope someone finds useful

I picked up a bargain on a Sony Model NS255DS laptop (Canadian bilingual
version of a PCG-7153L) loaded with Vista Home Premium 64. Processor is a
Intel Core2 Duo T6400 w/4GB Ram!! Being a Sony, it still had a 400
Firewire port!!

Although I was hesitant to go for it initially, after reading all the
warnings about laptops and Flexes, I decided to go for it as the store was
willing to take it back if it didn't work out!! After all it was a great
bargain!!!

I had read and heard several times that Sony generally had some of the
better Firewire ports because of their promotion of Video/Audio streaming
through it, so this added to my decision!!

After loading in Vista, I tried to load the Flex software off my software
disc for the 3000. For whatever reason the PSDR software would not unzip
so I went on line to the Flex site and downloaded the software from there
without any problem!!

Being very computer challenged, I followed the instructions on the Flex
site and eventually the 3000 came to life!! CPU usage ran around 25-30%
and the Panadaptor performed without any difficulty. The computer setup ,
other than loading Vista, the wireless LAN key, Windows Anti-Virus and the
Flex software was as it came out of the box!!

I must say I was very pleased!!!

I was more impressed, when later the laptop decided to load and install
Microsoft updates and I saw the CPU usage jump to 100%. Occasionally the
panadaptor had a momentary hiccup, but never did it stop with these high
levels of CPU usage (near 100%)!

Needless to say, I decided to keep the Sony and now the two have become
inseparable!!

Cheers!
