[Flexradio] Flex3000 SSB TX bandwitdh ony 3.65K ?

2009-05-03 Thread Stig LA4WAA
Hello,

I just came back from the shock.

I have a SDR-1000 and love it . I have also been thinking of buying a
Flex-3000 to use at our cottage location. I just read in a other yahoo
forum, and verified it at the Flexradio site, that they have limited the SSB
tx bandwidth to only 3.650Khz! What?

The flexibility with the bandwidth was one of the great things with the Flex
radio!

Now, since I am en ESSB operator and like sometimes to decide for myself the
TX bandwidth above that, this comes as a shock to me.

Why have I never read or heard this before?? Well, you may not answer that.

But I want to know where the limit lies? I'm using Power-SDR 1.18.0 today
and I see no such limit with SDR-1000.

Is it in the software, but only when the Flex-3000 is used? Is it in the
Flex-3000 hardware?

This I need answer to if somebody know? (Or this radio has no interest to
me. )

(And please do not make this turn into a discussion about ESSB and legality.
)

73's,

Stig, LA4WAA - Oslo, Norway, member of SESSBG.net

Yes, I was seriously considering the 3000 until I learned of this as
well. Guess I'll stick with the 1000.

Is ESSB the ham radio equivalent of body piercing and tattoos? ESSB make you
sound like crap, body piercing and tattoos make you look like crap.
