Re: [Flexradio] Heil Proset Elite RX & TX Eq settings suggestions?
Hi Zack I would start with the Heil profile you have, and then go through the audio chain alignment. I would also keep the EQ flat as the Heil mics have already been eq'd so to speak for SSB communications. I am sure you have read this: http://www.heilsound.com/amateur/products/prosetelite/. Also, don't hesitate to email Heil and ask them about their recommendations for a Flex. They helped me with my remote base setup on eq. I've been a big fan of Heil mics since the 90's and have used nothing but. I am pretty sure you will find it a great addition to the 5000. [Flexradio] Heil Proset Elite RX & TX Eq settings suggestions?
I am going to order a Heil Proset Elite for use with my 5000 and would like to know what would be good starting points to set for the RX & TX EQs. Can one of the PSDR scope displays be used to make these adjustments? The headset will be mainly used for DXing. 73 Zack N8FNR ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/
Re: [Flexradio] Heil Proset vs Elite, HC-4 vs HC-6?
Hi Zack I have the Heil Proset Elite and like it a lot. I have had good on-air reports about it. At first I found it a bit uncomfortable out of the box, but after adjusting it I have not had any problems with it. I tried the Proset-4 at the store while listening to a Flex 5000A and I felt that the audio quality and volume level was much better with the Elite. I operate a Flex 5000A and a Flex 1500 and have found that both work well. I do a lot of weak signal VHF DX work and have found it quite listenable. With the Flex radios, of course, you can adjust the Rx and Tx response, so I thought it would be better to have a set that had a wider frequency range that I could adjust for whatever purpose I wanted, than to have one that is limited. [Flexradio] Heil ProSet with the SDR-1000 and Delta-44
I've used the Heil ProSet/C5 with the SDR-1000 and Delta-44 for over 6 months and when correctly adjusted have had absolutely praise reviews from all. The most important setting is the EQ provided within the PowerSDR software, although all other settings listed below enhance the signal. I plug the headset directly into the Delta breakout box just to reduce the number of wires used. It doesn't really matter but using the panel plug on the SDR requires wiring a Yaesu plug and still attaching a stereo patch cable from the back of the SDR to the breakout box. I use no external hardware but position the boom mic about an inch away from my mouth and just below my lips. The mic is not as room noise resistant as I would like so because of my soft voice, noisy computer and AL82 amp, I always use the Noise Gate. Here are my settings yours may need to differ: Mic Boost=NOT checked (not needed) Latency=not checked Mic Gain=55, Noise Gate= -35 (this depends on your room noise) (Heil C5 Headset, other mics may differ) NOTE: When using these settings, be sure to use the "Leveler" or "EQ" on the TX EQ monitor or you may over-drive the transmitter. To use Leveler and ALC the NOISE GATE MUST BE ENABLED (Feedback Will occur). Leveler=checked, MaxGain=12, Attack=3, Decay=5000, Hang=5000 ALC: Attack=10, Decay=3, Hang=5000 TX Equalizer=checked, Preamp=6, TXEQ1=+6, TX EQ2=-6, TXEQ3=+8 ESSB:= -100 -3200Hz, Compander=2, Compression OFF -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... [Flexradio] Heil ProSet with the SDR-1000 and Delta-4
Indeed I do use the ProSet with my SDR-1000. I plug directly into the Delta 44 IN3. The Yaesu Heil adapter with the pistol grip PTT will not work without some changes. Also you should be aware of the internal wiring between the front panel MIC jack and the rear panel MIC jack on the SDR-1000. A standard stereo cable from the 1/8" rear panel MIC jack to the 1/4" Delta 44 will not work, as provision has been made to isolate the audio from chassis ground through the SDR-1000 .The audio - (pin 7 of the front panel jack) is not common to ground rather it is connected to the RING of the rear panel MIC jack. The audio + (pin 8 of the front panel jack) does indeed connect to the TIP of the rear panel jack. The SLEEVE of the rear panel jack is at chassis ground. With a mono plug such as on the ProSet, you will have to make some provision to complete the audio circuit. 73s Jim, W4ATK ___ FlexRadio mailing list FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archive Link: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ FlexRadio Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/ FlexRadio Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/
