Re: [Flexradio] More bass from Flex 5000A on Rx

2008-06-30 Thread Kirk.Harding
Harry,

I use the Bose Companion III which has the subwoofer. Like Harry says, it
is really dependent upon how you have your receive filter set. There have
been times when I was adjusting the RX filter that the bass was overwhelming
which, in my estimation, doesn't enhance receive capability. I guess it's
just a matter of preference.

Harry,

I am using some Logitech THX series 5.1 speakers that have a subwoofer, and
the bass response, dependent upon who is transmitting, can be quite loud and
over powering at times. All of that depends upon how low you have the
receive filter set for as well. I do not know what you have yours set for,
but I thought I would pass along that setting the receive filter to allow
everything above 50Hz or even lower to pass through your RX1/RX2 could help.
If you have already done that, then yes a subwoofer will definitely enhance
your current bass response. You may find yourself, like me, adjusting the
low end of the filter dependent upon who you are conversing with.

I have my Flex 5000a hooked to a pair of Bose companion II speakers. While
the sound out is excellent, I would like to be able to get some more bass
response. I have messed with the rx equalizer but this does not give me what
I want. Has anybody added a subwoofer or other speaker to extend the bass
response? Since the flex has only the one stereo output on the back of the
radio, I am not even sure how I would add another speaker for better bass
response to augment the Bose speakers that are already hooked up. Any help
would be appreciated.

I have no clue if this will work or not, but what if you fed a 5.1 enabled
sound card the stereo output from the F5K into the 5.1 sound card's line in and
then used the 5.1 sound card's DSP to enable the use of a sub woofer (and the
other channels as well).
