[Flexradio] Posting to reflector blocked.

2008-09-04 Thread Eddy Van de Velde
This may be off topic but someone may have had the same problem and
know how to fix.
For no obvious reason, my posting to the reflector is blocked. This is
not under control of FlexRadio and my ISP cannot do anything about
that. The website causing this trouble is http://www.spamrats.com.
This site has an option to get an ISP address removed from their lists
but that does not seem to work.

I'm now trying to post to the reflector from a different e-mail
address. I do get all post from the reflector ok.

Actually this is your ISP's issue to resolve. It is their IP address that has
been used for spamming. They are responsible.

The IP address you are using is probably allocated using DHCP meaning that you
are allocated an IP address FROM YOUR ISP that is in a reusable pool of
addresses. One of THEIR customers received an IP address from THEIR pool of
address and used it knowingly or unknowingly to send spam and got caught. The
offending IP address got recycled and now you have it.

The ISP can do several different things. They can take the offending IP address
out of the pool. Or they can try to get it off of the lists people use to
protect their e-mail servers from spammers by blocking in-bound e-mail from
those IP addresses (as the Reflector does). The later is a bit more difficult
to do. The former takes about 5 seconds to complete.

If you are using a static IP address, then things are a little more sticky
since someone spoofed your IP address (I assume you were not the spammer).
Again, it is your ISPs responsibility to get you a new IP address that isn't
being blocked.
