Re: [Flexradio] demo/test mode in Parallels 9

2014-01-30 Thread Neal Campbell
Parallels says it now supports "firewire" but I be damned if I could get
it to recognize the flex. I strongly suspect it doesn't fully support
firewire devices but can transfer firewire devices that have an OS X driver
already installed.

John,

Ken remembered correctly. PowerSDR is not supported running in a
virtual environment. For Mac hardware, you must use Bootcamp to dual
boot into Windows.

Anyway, the Parallels Support people should be able to clear up the
details. Bootcamp is the way to run a Windows / Firewire application.

I'm not under pressure to get Parallels working. I know there are guys out

I have another half month of free phone support with Parallels, if there
is a question you think I should shoot at them.

[Flexradio] demo/test mode in Parallels 9

2014-01-29 Thread John Paolucci
I installed power SDR in Parallels 9 with Windows 8.1on my Macbook Pro Retina
to Flex 3000. Installation finished fine. Only when I now click on Power SDR,
“Available Radio Interfaces” window is presented. There is Model Serial Number
and Nickname to enter. DEMO is there by default and a button to “use”. When I
click “use", a window says Welcome to the Demo/Test mode. It says, “if you did
not intend to be in Demo/Test mode, please open the Setup Form and change the
model to the appropriate selection (FLEX-5000, FLEX -3000, etc) and then
restart PowerSDR.”

I’m not sure what to enter in the Setup Form.

When I click to enter the demo, the demo comes up fine and I can play with it.
(I don’t think that means I’m connected to my 3000)

I get the sense that windows did not recognize the firewire (which you guys
warned might happen with Parallels)

I am running bootcamp on my Macbook also. Flex 3000 works okay there so I’m not
under pressure to get Parallels working. I know there are guys out there
interested in knowing if Parallels will work, so I can be your guinea pig if
you like.

I have another half month of free phone support with Parallels, if there is a
question you think I should shoot at them.
