Re: [Flexradio] ANNOUNCEMENT: POWERSDR v2.1.5 OFFICIAL RELEASE

2011-07-23 Thread Ray, K9DUR
Stan,

If you start PowerSDR without powering up your radio first, you will run in
Demo mode. This actually constitutes a separate "radio". Also, you may
have more than one Flex radio, like a FLEX-5000 & a FLEX-1500 for example.

If you have ever used more than one radio (including demo mode), then
PowerSDR displays a small window on startup, the "Radio Chooser", which
allows you to select which radio you want to use. The new red "x" allows
you to remove radios from the list. For example, if you forget & start
PowerSDR without turning on your radio first, you may want to remove the
Demo mode radio the next time you start PowerSDR.

If you have never used more than one radio, then the "Radio Chooser" window
does not appear.

It only appears when you have more than one FlexRadio used with

2011-07-23 Thread Tim Ellison, W4TME
Sorry Dave. We wish we could do everything in one release, but that is
not feasible.

In regards to item #2, it is helpful for people who have one radio and
accidentally start another instance of PowerSDR.

And for #3, there was no requirement to create a new database for
release 2.1.5 unless you were upgrading from 1.18.6 or a beta version of
2.0.x. See item #6 in the PowerSDR 2.X SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
RECOMMENDATIONS AND GUIDELINES section of the release notes.

When there are schema changes to the DB, it is a best practice rebuild a
DB to ensure the most stable operation of the radio. When this
situation exists, we explicitly say that in the release notes.

BTW, Have you looked into Ray's Data Transfer utility? It only takes a
few minutes to replace things like TX profiles and such.

1. There is now an optional installation of the new FlexControl™ driver.
Important: Please read the FlexControl Installation Errata Sheet

3. FM now has a dedicated Repeater Mode that allows you to set
positive and
negative offsets along with the frequency offset. Split mode is no
