Re: [Flexradio] Location of SDRQuickAudio.wav

2011-08-15 Thread W1AEX - Rob
It is annoying that you can't set the wav files to a directory of your
choosing for quick conversion to mp3 format or whatever else you might
want to do. It would be an excellent enhancement for future releases.

In the meantime, what I do after making a recording is to simply open
the "Wave" menu, then click ADD, but instead of actually adding the file
to the queue in PSDR, I right click on it and select "Cut". Then I
simply paste it to the desktop or into a working directory for
processing. That keeps the recordings from piling up in the PowerSDR
directory, and places them where I need them without having to navigate
to the PSDR folder.

Another way around this is to run an audio editing program such as Adobe
Audition and use VAC to steer the audio from PowerSDR into the recording
input of Adobe Audition, just as you would with any digital mode
software. Then set Audition to record your samples as mp3 files and set
the output directory to whatever location you want.

Still, as Steve suggested, it would be a nice enhancement to be able to
handle the file location within PowerSDR.

Rob W1AEX

Would be nice if PowerSDR let you set the output path in the wave dialog box
or options, rather than hard-coding the path.

Sounds like a useful enhancement. Have you added it to the enhancements
list?

I agree. It takes a lot of unnecessary effort to get to this file for
anything other than a quick playback over the air. If something couldn't be
included in PowerSDR, I would like to see an outboard utility to manage the
sound file so that they could be saved, cataloged by some sort of sequence
number or user-defined name, and made readily accessible for e-mailing or
other uses. Of course sending the file over e-mail provides a much better
diagnostic than playing it over the air in many cases. Also, it would be
nice to be able to memorialize your QSO with that rare DX. I can think of
several other uses.

I haven't programed since the days of "1 LET X=X+1; PRINT X; GOTO 1".
After I left for lunch can came back to find a whole box of greenbar all
over the floor, the instructor decided I would make a better MBA than a EE.
Otherwise, I would write a program to do this myself. :)

I play around with skins so I am no stranger to the appdata directory, but
even if it weren't hidden, it's buried under several layers of directories
which makes if very inconvenient to get to.

I take that trek once, create a shortcut to the wave file, and drag that
shortcut to my desktop beside my PowerSDR shortcut. Then to play the file,
just double-click on that handy shortcut.

ok, that isnt that tough but tere is no need to "bury" files that are meant
for user acces in hidden folders. one thing some software developers do is
make directories for user files configurable... eventhen te defaults arent
"buried".

Re: [Flexradio] Location of SDRQuickAudio.wav

2011-08-14 Thread Tim Ellison, W4TME
It isn't that difficult in Win7 & Vista and you don't have to enable
hidden files to access it.

In the Search box, just type "%APPDATA%\FlexRadio Systems"

You will be presented with the folder location in the search results.
Click on the FlexRadio Systems folder icon and the PowerSDR folder will
appear so you can navigate to the version of your choosing.
