[Flightgear-devel] Rudder pedals

Nearing completion on the basic prototype, last pic shows the
construction best. Angle was a bit steep for a desk chair, so added
screws to set the angle. Will change the cuts instead later. There are
eight 1' sections, may just use a single 2 x 6 x 8' instead of project
boards. That will cut the cost by $6 or $8. Rails for $12 and board
for $4, and only a few other odds and ends and a little cutting and
drilling will be all that's required for the mechanics. Feel very good
even without considering the low cost, and will be rearranged so wood is
about the only thing showing and can be finished off if desired. Just a
bit left to do and then get the electronics working. Then get the yoke
finished too.

[Flightgear-devel] Rudder Pedals

2002-02-28 Thread Matthew Law

Yeah, I haven't yet found a good set of rudder pedals.  The
Thrustmaster ones I use are adequate, but have a *lot* of slop in the
center section.  Fine control is difficult to impossible.  And the
lever arms are just rubbing plastic on plastic, so they're very
 sticky.

There's a CH Products pedal set that a lot of people like.  I got to
try them once, but didn't like them much either.  Too close together,
and the pedals are independantly sprung (not linked into a single
 physical axis), which feels wrong.

I've thought for a long time about building my own set, but will
probably never find the time. :(

Check out these: http://www.rcsimulations.com/copy2.htm

They are made here in the UK and are apparently quite well regarded. Too
expensive for me though!

As we are OT, can anyone tell me how to get my Saitek Cyborg working with
SuSE 7.3 Pro/Linux 2.4.x ?? All the sites I have looked at say that it isn't
supported. FlightGear crashes whenever I start it with the stick plugged
into the joystick port 80(

Regards,

Matt.
