Jim Wilson is working on the rewrite. We do plan to support tower
view (and other interesting views) very soon, but I don't know if it
will be in the first take or not.

That would be nice, but even something simple that puts the viewpoint 200

We have a center lon/lat/alt for every airport. For small airports,
unfortunately, that's often the runway center, but it should still be
useful as a starting tower location until we have better data.

Talking about views.
Currently when looking around in the cockpit you turn around a single
point (if I recall it correctly). Wouldn't it be nessercary to actually
incoorporate the eye distance from the middle of the head into that
action (and limit the rotation to about 270 degrees). It would seem more
natural that way (for me at least ;-))

Try the pilot offset dialog on the menu. With the dials you can position the
eye anywhere on a sphere from 1 to 100 meters radius from the model. It is
great for testing model animations.

Best,

[Flightgear-devel] simple tower view

2002-03-16 Thread Michael Selig

I am wondering does the view manager work-in-progress support a simple
tower view at this stage? Having gone from our non-CVS tower view in 0.7.8
to a recent CVS checkout leaves me wishing for more.

Sounds like a good idea. Can we get data on real tower locations easily?
Thanks,
