I've been in and out of town for the last two weeks.  I recall some
discussion about this, but didn't follow along to the resolution.  I
assumed someone would submit a patch to David or me at some point.

Shouldn't have an effect there.  In the back of my mind I'm thinking about that 
buffer overrun bug that Andy noticed.  It's the sort of thing that could
generate a variety of "inexplicable" problems.  Did that get fixed?

I see no problems at all crossing that tile border.  There were some
semi-recent height above terrain code changes.  Perhaps the new code
makes assumptions about the scenery scene graph which aren't valid for
older scenery???
