Yep, at least for older AI's -- it will re-erect itself in a little
while, if you're patient.

In fact, unusual attitudes like that can cause other problems as well.
I was practicing a hold inside a well-developed cumulus cloud on
Thursday, and just as I was turning outbound for the parallel entry, I
hit some nasty stuff (not that the whole thing wasn't a roller-coaster
ride) and snapped into a 45+-degree bank before I could get it back.

I had reset my heading indicator just before entering the hold, but
then I had all kinds of trouble intersecting tracks. It took me a
while to figure out that that one jolt had caused my HI to precess 30
degrees instantly (!!).

All the best,

David

On top of all that I also found it all quite amusing when switching to
the outside view - can anyone land like that - I can't seem to fly that
close to the ground upside down:-)

The other thing I noticed when I misuse the C172 is that after
performing a snap roll the artificial horizon is all up the creek - I
guess this is realistic though?

/sim/presets/onground is false. I'm not sure why.

I did make some changes, but they don't appear to be the problem. It's
wanting to do an in-air trim following the reset even though it's on the
ground.

This is something that I've noticed recently too. It appears to only
be a problem with JSBSim aircraft, and at least for me happens on 100%
of the resets or on-the-ground repositions. Something in the JSBSim
ground trim code seems to have changed

I agree.
I have the same problem.
