Unfortunately, I haven't been able to reproduce your problem.  I have a 19 in. 
Dell monitor and my screen resolution is also 1280x1024.  The green portion of 
my HUD measures about 8 cm across on my screen

Just downloaded it and tried:

Very nice but I have one issue with it, in the default zoom, the HUD is way
too small on my screen, I can hardly see anything on it but a green clutter, I
run fg in maximized window on my 17" TFT screen (1280x1024), the size of the
HUD is about 4 cm across.
