Re: [Flightgear-devel] Proposed new set of splash screens
Guys, Very nice this typesetting! Fantastic! What font is this? Best regards, Isaías V. Prestes 2010/2/20 ArthurX arth...@gmail.com I also like the splash screens, especially with the new typesetting: http://www.sablonier.ch/flightgear/splash/typosplash01.jpg And for me Open Source is something, what FlightGear is. So it should not be omitted. It's part of the fun and pride. http://www.sablonier.ch/flightgear/splash/typosplash01.jpgMaybe we can add some other slogan to it. Like all there is and down in the right bottom something: Surfing the Clouds Not something sensible or logical. For gliders it would be. Re: [Flightgear-devel] Stencil Lighting
Vivian, Thank you very much for all information. Very interesting! Best regards, Prestes 2010/2/1 Vivian Meazza vivian.mea...@lineone.net Hi All Lauri Peltonen (aka Zan) has produced a stencil shader which can be used to simulate the light cone of Taxi or Landing lights, or Floodlights for airport aprons. The possibilities are endless. I have put together a demo using the Buccaneer – some screenshots are here: ftp://ftp.abbeytheatre2.org.uk/fgfs/Screen-shots/lightcone11.jpg ftp://ftp.abbeytheatre2.org.uk/fgfs/Screen-shots/lightcone12.jpg That’s the good news – unfortunately, I cheated. There’s some problem around the near/far camera changeover: ftp://ftp.abbeytheatre2.org.uk/fgfs/Screen-shots/lightcone10.jpg And as you can see, the light effect works quite well on terrain, but it floods other models with white. It also has hard edges, and no attenuation. I have applied a texture which helps a bit, but it is far from a realistic light. These aren’t problems that look as if they will be solved short-term, if at all. Nevertheless, I think it’s worth pursuing at least until we have light shaders available, so I have uploaded the shaders etc. to cvs-data. To complete the process, minor patches are required to FG and SG – here: ftp://ftp.abbeytheatre2.org.uk/fgfs/Light/ For those who want it an updated Windows binary including the stencil shader is at: ftp://ftp.abbeytheatre2.org.uk/fgfs/executable/ I don’t think this code is sufficiently mature for inclusion in the upcoming release, but once that is complete, perhaps someone would apply the patches to cvs. Vivian -- The Planet: dedicated and managed hosting, cloud storage, colocation Stay online with enterprise data centers and the best network in the business Choose flexible plans and management services without long-term contracts Personal 24x7 support from experience hosting pros just a phone call away. http://p.sf.net/sfu/theplanet-com ___ Flightgear-devel mailing list Flightgear-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/flightgear-devel -- The Planet: dedicated and managed hosting, cloud storage, colocation Stay online with enterprise data centers and the best network in the business Choose flexible plans and management services without long-term contracts Personal 24x7 support from experience hosting pros just a phone call away. http://p.sf.net/sfu/theplanet-com___ Flightgear-devel mailing list Flightgear-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/flightgear-devel
[Flightgear-devel] OSG Light
Hi, It´s possible in a FG aircraft add a animation (via XML), or something like, using OSG:Light to create a spotlight, or a beacon that is light emissive and others objects reflect its light? I want to know if is possible create something like http://www.cuboslocos.com/images/OSG_Lighting.jpg read more here http://www.cuboslocos.com/tutorials/OSG-BasicLighting And maybe associate a spotlight effect to a object (beacon, landing lights...) as we can see here http://www.cs.clemson.edu/~malloy/courses/3dgames-2007/tutor/web/spotlight/images/spotlight.png More at http://www.cs.clemson.edu/~malloy/courses/3dgames-2007/tutor/web/light/light.htmland http://www.cs.clemson.edu/~malloy/courses/3dgames-2007/tutor/web/spotlight/spotlight.html Best regards, Isaías V. Re: [Flightgear-devel] OSG Light
Whow! So nice!! Great sounds, Vivian!! Thanks, Isaías V. Prestes 2010/1/30 Vivian Meazza vivian.mea...@lineone.net Victhor, Lauri Peltonen (aka Zan) and I have been working on a light using the OSG stencil technique (Lauri did all the hard and difficult stuff): ftp://ftp.abbeytheatre2.org.uk/fgfs/Screen-shots/lightcone7.jpg It’s as unlikely a light as you can find: The edges are hard, and while the scenery is nicely illuminated, models within the beam show up as all white. It is unlikely that we can solve either of these problems. There is some scope for shaping the beam a bit to be more realistic, but I think we have run into the sand on this one. So there it is. I’ll probably run up a MSVC9 binary later, and upload the necessary shaders to CVS.
