Re: [Flightgear-devel] Broken-sky with OSG
I'll post a me too message here. But note that I have also seen this show up in the v0.9.10 version on my same system (which is plib based.) I suspect it could be a driver related issue, or something in the newest nvidia driver exposes a state management bug in FlightGear? This seems to be tied to menu visibility, so could it some how be related to not setting alpha or colors correctly before the sky is drawn? Somehow it appears that drawing the translucent menus leaves some opengl state incorrectly set when the software loops around and starts drawing the sky in the next iteration. Note that the sky is pretty much the first thing to be drawn each frame and the gui is the last. Curt. I ran current FG for a few minutes today (with the closed ATI driver) and I didn't see this artifact. OTOH I didn't use the menu, well, except a few short-key lookups in the aircraft help, Martin. -- Unix _IS_ user friendly - it's just selective about who its friends are ! -- - Take Surveys. But it does not happen on my machines. Even though, I have a machine with this effect reachable but not time yet to follow that bug ... I only found that problem when a message box appears. It appears to happen every time for you? What airport is this? Greetings Mathias - Take Surveys. Earn Cash. This sky rendering bug definitely happens around KSFO, although I haven't seen a place where it didn't happen. There are rare occasions where the menu or a dialog box can be drawn and the sky looks ok, but 98% of the time, the sky is drawn incorrectly whenever any gui element (menubar or dialog box) is actively being drawn. Turn off the menu and close any dialog boxes that might be open and the sky looks ok. I'm using NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9746-pkg1.run here too.
