[Flightgear-devel] FSWeekend 2007

2007-10-30 Thread Durk Talsma
FSWeekend will be held again this Saturday and Sunday, November 3 and 4, at
the Aviodrome aviation museum at Lelystad airport (EHLE) in the Netherlands.
FSWeekend is the largest annual convention in Europe solely dedicated to
flight simulation. Following up on last year's successful presence,
FlightGear will be returning to the event, showcasing the latest
developments.

This year we'll bring a large variety of hardware, including a quad-display
dual CPU linux based system showcasing the latest possibilities in
OpenSceneGraph based display technology. We'll also bring a video projector
to present larger-than-life renditions of the FlightGear world. Adding to
this mix, we'll be bringing several desktop and laptop computers running the
broadest range of supported operating systems.

Another first this year is that we'll be running three scheduled demos: 1) A
general introduction to the program (Morning session, consisting of a short
VfR flight between EHLE and EHAM). 2) Carrier Operations (Early afternoon:
seahawk catapult takeoff from the Nimitz, followed by a brief tour of the
greater San Francisco area, and concluded with a carrier landing). 3).
Multiplayer aerotowing demo (Late afternoon: Running a locally operated
multiplayer server, we'll use two computers to launch a glider. Scene is set
in the beautiful Swiss Alps). Finally, we'll be showing an early demo of the
NL Scenery project, consisting of some beautiful buildings in the greater
Amsterdam area.

Martin Spott, Torsten Dreyer, and myself will be presenting. If you happen to
be around, please stop by for a chat.

Cheers,
Durk

A few additional hands to run the booth would be handy. Last year we ran with
three people on Saturday and with two on Sunday. While that was a basic
minimum, some extra manpower wouldn't hurt; the two days were pretty intense
last year.

What kind of assistance do you need?

[Flightgear-devel] FSWeekend 2007

2007-09-17 Thread Durk Talsma
This is just a quick note to remind everybody that FlightGear is intending to
have a booth at the Dutch FlightSim event FSWeekend, organized November 3 & 4
at the aviodrome in Lelystad.

As it looks right now, Martin Spott and I will be organizing the booth, and we
are currently still looking for some volunteers for assistance. If you are
around and would like to make a contribution to flightgear, this might be
your chance. If you're interested, feel free to contact me either on or off
list.

Thanks,
Durk
