I'm having issues with this too (trying it as an alternative to some missing
conventions). It looks like it's AutoMappingOverrideAlteration.Alter() just
needing a quick && clause. I'm happy to submit a patch, but what do we need
in terms of tests? I'm still feeling my way around the FNH source code.

It sounds like whatever code scans for overrides isn't checking whether the 
types it receive are abstract. Sounds like a bug to me. Not sure why this 
would have changed recently though.
