Re: [Fonts]Including Opensource TSCII Fonts With XFree86 for Tamil

2002-10-25 Thread prabu anand
Hi Owen,

Thanks for the information. I'll resubmit the fonts
after adding necessary OpenType tables. As far as
license and documentation, we'll add them too.

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers.,
Prabu

I don't have any real say in the issue; but
 personally I'd be
unhappy to see Indic TTF fonts added to XFree86 that
 didn't have
the necessary OpenType tables. Support for
 non-OpenType Tamil
TTF fonts has been *removed* from recent versions of
 Pango.

As far as procedure goes, I think it's basically

  - make sure that you have good documentation of
 exactly where
the fonts come from and what their copyright and
 license is.
  - Ask here.

 Regards,
  Owen

[Fonts]Priority for core fonts renderers

2002-10-25 Thread Juliusz Chroboczek
Would people bee so kind as to test the following before I submit it?

  http://www.pps.jussieu.fr/~jch/software/files/xfree86-fonts-priority-20021025.patch

In theory, it should allow you to load all of the type1, freetype
and xtt modules with conflicts being handled gracefully.
