So now options are: 1) Try some other tweaking in Lohit. 2) Design Lohit Devanagari Bold Instead of dependency of auto bold algorithm, in long term it will be good to have Lohit Bold so such problems will not occur. I'm closing this as 'UPSTREAM' for now, as I personally do not have the time to work on this fix myself - I'm at the mercy of upstream for it.
