[foreman-users] Katello and Errata updates

2017-03-02 Thread Lachlan Musicman
Hola,

When one ticks off an Errata, a minor version of the Content View is
created (see att image).

How are they stored on the filesystem? Is it ok to delete any of the
versions an just keep the most recent?

For eg, if I make version 3.0 and then over a month there are 4 errata
updates, taking us to 3.4.

Can I delete the versions 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3? Can I delete version 3.0?

Are minor versions stored as a diff or as a snapshot of the whole CV?

cheers

[foreman-users] Re: Compatibility vmware 6.5

2017-03-02 Thread Robert Foreman
Did you ever get an answer to this question? We are about to do the same
thing. It looks like everything should work. We have the new vcsa
configured as a new compute resource, but until we actually make the esx
cut-over and see how things end up I'm still a little nervous. I am
assuming we'll just need to re-associate the VM's.

Re: [foreman-users] Recommendations for products with discovered repositories and subscriptions for content hosts

2017-03-02 Thread Tomas Hajek
Andrew,
I did read over you post in that thread and it was very helpful. I think
even though we only have a couple hundred servers there are very few that
are actually alike I think your methodology probably fits fairly well but I
also like Rich's suggestion of using multiple activation keys. I was
wondering about the shear number of activation keys that we would wind up
with and I suppose automating that might help, that appears to be what you
did base on your note about building the Activation Keys pragmatically. Do
you use multiple activation keys, I'm somewhat assuming not based on you
example of AK__ and AK___?
thanks again,

[foreman-users] Re: Katello 3.2 > 3.3 upgrade with custom signed ssl certs breaks pulp

2017-03-02 Thread Edward Clay
I ended up restoring from backup to the previous version 3.2 and things are
working. I would like very much to figure out how to revert back to self
signed ssl certs and do away with using the 3rd party signed ones. Since I
ran foreman-installer with some options to use the 3rd party signed ssl
certs you would think this would be a simple task.

[foreman-users] Re: Puppet 4 and foreman

2017-03-02 Thread anothermailbox49
I think I was not able to present the question in right manner. I already
had Puppet server running (Puppet 4). I did that with foreman-installer
command. However, the foreman Puppet module was missing. It was my
understanding that the Puppet module comes from foreman-installer itself.
Apparently that is not the case.

I installed it with 'puppet module install theforeman-foreman' and then
things started to work.

The error was:

Error: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Error 500 on SERVER:
Server Error: Evaluation Error: Error while evaluating a Function Call,
Could not find class ::foreman for at
/etc/puppetlabs/code/environments/production/custom/profiles/manifests/puppetserver.pp:2:3

on node

Thanks for the help everybody!

[foreman-users] CentOS foreman 1.12.4 puppet 3.7.x best Upgrade Procedure to puppet 4.x

2017-03-02 Thread Karsten Horsmann
Hello List,

i prepare my upgrade path to Puppet 4.x and i figure out the following
steps:

* Fresh new CentOS 7 Installation (because CentOS 6 is not longer supported
by foreman)
* Get my data from my old Installation to the new one
* Get to the latest puppet 3.8.x version, enable future parse and see whats
broken
* Upgrade to the latest Foreman Version
* Switch from passenger to puppet-server (java based) 1.xx in puppet 3.8.x

Is there anybody out there, that can me hint to an good ressource for best
upgrade/migrate strategy
from 3.x to 4.x with an Foreman Setup? Would be a huge help in that kind of
setup.

And to make it even worst, i use puppetdb also.

Kind Regards
Karsten Horsmann

[foreman-users] Foreman Discovery 8.0.1 release

2017-03-02 Thread Lukas Zapletal
Hello,

better later then never, I am finally announcing 8.0.1 bugfix minor
release which contains two important changes:

Fixes #18106 - Attribute Error when provisioning with Katello plugin installed
Fixes #16890 - Prevent discovery of managed hosts

It took a little bit longer to release this due to various things
namely FOSDEM, recovery and my struggle with building process. I
highly recommend to update to all of users because the #16890 bug is
causing discovered hosts in undeletable state and maintainance task
must be performed to delete them (it only happens if MAC address is
already used as managed host - re-discovery).

Re: [foreman-users] katello 3.3 search doesn't work?

2017-03-02 Thread Cristian Falcas
The machine has 32 GB.

We run here tomcat (candlepin), puppetdb, foreman and postgresql db.
