[fossil-users] Proposed improvement to inherited privileges subscripts.
Hello, I like the new characters for the inherited privileges, however, I find that the R character, and the text that precedes it also being black, to be not very readable. The R character make Write Wiki look like Write WikiR to me (except the R is slightly subscripted and also other words with R that follow seem to be similarly difficult to read). I would like to propose the following: http://www.fossil-scm.org/index.html/info/957d0374073603321064655462bcaace585a9f9f This causes the subscript to have just a little more space between it and the word it follows, which makes it much easier to tell that it isn't part of the word. The subscripts with color of course are easily discernable as not part of the word because of the contrast in color. With CSS3 it is possible, but that eliminates a wide range of older browsers, as well as text-based ones (which was what i was mainly thinking about with this suggestion, as those don't support CSS-based spacing, either). Otherwise, I kind of like them both being there. Compare it to a Fossil that does not have it: http://fossil.bradfords.org:8081/setup_uedit?id=2 The first one is much nicer/cleaner. How about we change the [R] from black to... something else? We've used all the primary colors already, though. With the braces in place, subscripting might not even be necessary. Just tried it in Chrome by changing a SUB to a SPAN. The SUB looks marginally better, IMO. -- - stephan beal http://wanderinghorse.net/home/stephan/ http://gplus.to/sgbeal Freedom is sloppy. I don't want to hijack this thread; however, I would like to make a feature request while we are improving the user privilege screen: When a privilege checkbox is checked/unchecked, it would be nice to have a read-only textbox showing what the new privilege string will be, e.g.: Reader + Developer == uv (in the read-only textbox) This would require some JavaScript; however, I'm not confident in my ability to write JavaScript portable enough to work on most browsers. -- Joe Mistachkin ___ fossil-users mailing list fossil-users@lists.fossil-scm.org http://lists.fossil-scm.org:8080/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fossil-users

It might be a combination of this particular setup/user which is hiding it from me. When a privilege checkbox is checked/unchecked, it would be nice to have a read-only textbox showing what the new privilege string will be, e.g.: Reader + Developer == uv (in the read-only textbox) That's doable - we just need to associate the perms letter with each checkbox, and each time one is updated, create a string from the selected ones. With jQuery, this type of thing is practically a one-liner, without it, probably a 20-liner. But nonetheless not difficult.
